My partner just spent a week in Japan and brought back a bunch of candy and it is SO MUCH BETTER than US candy. What the heck?? We are missing out.

Got to hang out with one of the best this week with @trustyduck.bsky.social at The Pragmatic Summit!

Some of the best vibes of any tech conference, 10/10 would recommend this event!

also: if you want to be on Web Dev Challenge, there’s a casting call! codetv.link/wdc/casting-call

also please nominate great devs that haven’t been on the show. it’s important to me that the show includes real representation of industry devs in addition to bringing on recognizable community folks

Earlier today I was trying to find Sriracha in my refrigerator and couldn't see it. My first immediate impulse was to reach out to Claude for help. I'm not sure if this is a good impulse or not.

Today I met @gergely.pragmaticengineer.com at The Pragmatic Summit and it was truly the best event in tech. Incredible speaker lineup, perfect number of attendees, and some of the best conversations around AI and the state of the tech industry. 10/10 highly recommend!

I feel like a lot of people think about time wrong. Been bugging me since I talked about side projects the other day and was complaining about it.

I had to remind myself that at no point in my adult life has time been given to me, or materialised out of nowhere. You have to actively create time.

You don’t really see it on the surface but the Overcommitted folks work so hard on this podcast. They were so prepared, they dug into things I’d written to come up with great questions, and even made a little game just for me at the end.

Delightful experience being a guest 🫶
This week on Overcommitted, we got to sit down with Bluesky's favorite tech blogger @samwho.dev and it did not disappoint!

New post: Living in the Inflection Point. On the cognitive overload of watching software change in real time, why the backlash against AI is valid, and why the most important skill right now might not be technical at all.

Living in the inflection point
I'm scared, I'm excited, and I'm exhausted by the pace of change. All of those things can be true at the same time. This blog post is a grounded take on living through AI's inflection point, why the b...

It's honestly so impressive to see what happens when the open source community comes together for a shared goal.

IMO there are two types of developers: CLI and IDE

It's interesting to me how much CLI is dominating the AI conversation. Are people switching to the CLI specifically for AI development? Or have I just been missing out on CLI development this whole time? 😂

We are down to 1.5 months until #atmosphereconf which means I actually really do need to finish the app I've been working on soon 😂

Opus 4.6 release is a great time to pick it up again!

Is the subscription era ending?

When AI makes building cheaper than buying, why pay monthly forever when you could build once and own it?

I really wonder how software monetization is going to change with more advanced AI that can build faster and cheaper than ever before.

Yesterday I built this neat little automation that I'm running locally that will see how many issues I have assigned to me right now and automatically assign one from the backlog to Copilot on my behalf if I have space. I've shipped 3 PRs already with it since enabling it. I love the future.

The commit graphghan is coming together 👀

I finally picked up this project again and found a way to get it a bit more organized with a yarn bowl!

I'm really not looking forward to the number of ends to weave in, though 🥲

Want to level up your #AI knowledge? 👀
It made a starter pack. Lack of inclusion is not a judgment against you and is only an indicator doll's mental ram ran out of room. It can add you on request.
