Two #dingoes left Australia alive in 1802, with France's Baudin Expedition - the first known to travel overseas with Europeans. This male died during the voyage, but a female made it to the menagerie in Paris. Both are now in @mnhn.fr. #dingo #taxidermy

Yet we are still opening new coal & gas fields. Obviously Aus Labor know no (existential) fear as they try to play off greens vs coalition

Curator: Please can you make me a #taxidermy koala? 🐨
Taxidermist: Sure. Any pointers for what you want it to be doing or how it looks?
Curator: Yes, since you've asked, could you give it a pot-belly, and make it scratch it?

🌊🧵 1/ Vanderford Glacier, holding more than half-a-metre of global sea level rise, is retreating faster than any other in East #Antarctica (18.6 km of grounding line retreat 1996-2020!) It’s one of a number of glaciers in Vincennes Bay melted by deep warm water getting underneath.

Am rediscovering music hidden among the top shelves of my racks. John Cale, Words for the Dying, was released in 1989 but written in 1982 as a response to the Falklands War (of particular significance for me). It’s absolutely mesmerising; can’t walk away until you’ve heard every last lyric and note.

The neighbourhood Grey #goshawk has been coming & going these past weeks, spending an hour in one of our Eucalypts, before deciding a wattle might suit better. Alas, no feed here on this day - he’s recently taken all 8 of this years #Tasmanian native hen chicks! #wildoz #birds #birdwatching

Wouldn’t it be good if there was some kind of environment legislation that could stop this sort of thing from happening
New: "Minister Gavin Pearce has confirmed the closure of the commercial rock lobster fishery near diseased salmon pens south of D’Entrecasteaux Channel, citing concerns that antibiotic residues could prompt Japan and China to ban imports of Tasmania’s $90-million southern rock lobster industry."
