“You’ll be visited by three spirits.”

The three spirits:

Am rediscovering music hidden among the top shelves of my racks. John Cale, Words for the Dying, was released in 1989 but written in 1982 as a response to the Falklands War (of particular significance for me). It’s absolutely mesmerising; can’t walk away until you’ve heard every last lyric and note.

The neighbourhood Grey #goshawk has been coming & going these past weeks, spending an hour in one of our Eucalypts, before deciding a wattle might suit better. Alas, no feed here on this day - he’s recently taken all 8 of this years #Tasmanian native hen chicks! #wildoz #birds #birdwatching

Yep, we’ve got the rainy day blues in our household.

The hillside opposite is obliterated, not by low cloud, not by mist, but by smoke. It’s really not the ideal weather to have a bonfire over there. #SoTas

Seems you can get a medal for doing so in Sth Korea…..

Something I didn’t mention yesterday was, not long after our #hailstorm from Hell, we experienced the #thunderstorm from Hell. I was standing watching it from the front window.
I don’t believe I’ve ever before seen the detail, close up, of when a strike hits the ground.

It just hailed. A furious pelting for quite some time. #SoTas #Tasmania

Woke up to a heavy frost cover this morning, but the sun has already reached the hillside opposite and thawed much of the freeze. Bbbbrrrrrrrr #SoTas #Tasmania
September 5, 2025 at 10:26 PM
Just a very light dusting of #snow remains in evidence this morning, but it’s cold enough that the heat pump has stopped working more than once to do a defrost cycle. #Tasmania

Just a few #snow flurries so far today, and looking unlikely to become anything significant. #SoTas

Taken through the dirty window: A couple of Tasmanian Native hens, one of the #Tasmanian endemic birds, wandering past the kitchen and grabbing a bite to eat as they go. #WildOz #birds #birding 🪶

It’s still #InternationalDogDay elsewhere in the world, so not too late to pop up a pic of Lola, seemingly doing a bit of contemplative thinking in this moody iPad grab-shot 🐶 #Dogs #DogsOfBlueSky

Getting the side-eye treatment from Lola. She clearly disapproves of having a photo-stop mid walk. #Dogs #DogsOfBluesky

They know the drill!

Still putting out wallaby pellets, until we get better grass growth. Up to 24 #Tasmanian pademelons turn up each evening, and these small, distance-separated piles reduce the competition & allow even the old & frail to get a bite to eat. #WildOz #Marsupials #SoTas

Was gifted this and was hoping it would be as adorable as its label.
Alas! Not to my taste.

Yes, I know it’s pretty sad, but I still have the T Shirt from #Dylan et al at The #Picnic at Blackbushe aerodrome. That’s from 47 years ago! (And no, it doesn’t still fit me)
July 23, 2025 at 8:27 AM
Been having a marathon #vinyl session, ending up with the live double #LP At Budokan from a relatively young Bob #Dylan in 1978. I remember buying this Dylan #album back then as it was the closest to the setlist I’d seen him perform at ‘The Picnic’ #Blackbushe in ‘78. Never ages (not for me, anyway!)

I vote for him! I feel a sense of duty to place him ABSOLUTELY LAST in every election we’ve had. So, essentially, I have to vote for everyone who’s running in order to achieve that placement.

There was a museum in Arundel, Sussex that I used to visit, full of stuffed oddities done by Walter Potter mostly in the 1800s. There were a number of 2 headed creatures, as well as tableaux of small animals posed in human situations. (Pics from Cornwall Live) www.cornwalllive.com/news/history...

Yes! The only time I usually sight them on our property is on my #CameraTrap images. Night time, I get the lead from the eye lit up if I’m lucky (like the RH of the 2 birds in this image), but day time I have to scour the pictures of leaf litter to find them in the shots.

What a sweetie! Every day, when I go to the kitchen to prepare dinner, Lola the lab is right there beside me. She loves her raw veg - cauliflower leaves are a special favourite, but she’ll accept & devour absolutely any raw veg I hand her. (Pic of Lola when it’s NOT meal prep time!)
