Sometimes I do stuff, sometimes I bleed from the eyes. You never know.
Look, I have a freakishly good relationship with my father, but he is one of the worst communicators ever.
So,the guy works in an ER back where I grew up. Today he sends me a text upon arriving at work to tell me he just saw my (second family) sister being wheeled upstairs from the ER.

Seriously, one of my friends was working on transporters probably close to 20 years ago. They had it considering working then (they were transporting styrofoam cups, and got them halfway through a door, and kind of melted).
And replicators?
I want to live in a post scarcity society, not...this.
Why do we keep copying dystopian shit from fiction and none of the cool shit?

I don't want real life Hunger Games or 1984. I want to see the replicator and holodeck from Star Trek happen instead.

They try to kill us, but we survive.

Lighting my first candle tonight with sadness, strength, and determination.

Eating all the latkes, lighting all the candles.

I remember the Bondhi sand from my teenage years.

I don't have words anymore.

I am so tired.

Back at the end of July, just a few days after my Dad had knee replacement surgery, he found a kitten on his wood pile. Her mother never came back for her, so he took her in a day or two later. I think she's pleased with the result.

I hope someone draws this wonderful story about Tom Stoppard's Arcadia and the power of the arts to help us see things differently, to the attention of our Education Secretary. Do read it, it will lift your spirits.

"Leopoldstadt" sat next to me as I saw this. May we see every exit as an entrance.

This year I let someone else make the Thanksgiving feast.
Do. Not. Recommend.

Why is there so much cream? And carbs? Where is the seasoning? Why is it all the same color? Why did turkey taste like that? Do other people not know about brining?

My childhood did not prepare me for this.

Well, I made it to 40, my immune system is still trying to take out my liver, but I don't have to be hospitalized over the holiday weekend, so I'll take it.

*looks around at the world...*

Oh, look, my puppy!

I turn 40 tomorrow. Which is wild because I never thought I'd survive this long. I don't do things for my birthday because it goes terribly wrong everytime I try, but I kinda wish I was doing something for this one...other than getting my blood drawn to make sure I don't need to be hospitalized over

One thing I really miss from my childhood is the ability to disappear into the woods to find a private space to scream. I feel like we could all use that these days.

When I explain that boycotting an election over an issue has never once forced a politician to embrace that issue, I'm not "scolding people to vote." I'm explaining reality.

Feel free to sit on your ass! Just don't pretend that your lazy apathy is somehow going to advance your agenda.

Meanwhile, my dog just went for a walk in the sunny "war zone".

We had better start keeping journals if we want any of this preserved for our potential history.

Anyway, time to feed our neighbors.
HAPPENING NOW: Portland Police Commander Franz Schoening testifies that federal officers on Oct. 18 barraged protesters with crowd control munitions — not because of any violence but because another federal officer accidentally shot tear gas onto the roof of the ICE facility.

Just out here rewriting history in real time.
I will never forgive those who didn't vote for Kamala Harris. Ever.
NEW: Trump's DOJ rewrote a federal sentencing memo — erasing all references to the Jan. 6 attack and Trump’s social media post that shared Barack Obama’s address.

The career prosecutors who wrote the original memo have been suspended.
