I should really have fit into this post that this county voted for Trump.
NEW: Dems easily flipped the sheriff's office in Pennsylvania's Bucks County, a big swing county in the Philly suburbs.
So? The incumbent GOP sheriff had contracted with ICE. His Dem challenger promised to end the contract.
Now he wants other swing-state Dems to look at his victory as a lesson:

Incredible win for democracy coming out of Utah this morning (ET). The new map will finally reflect what the people want after the polls and asked for back in 2018.
Really amazing work by everyone that never gave up and kept fighting so hard to make this happen!

Just now: The plaintiffs who were arguing that Utah GOP's congressional map is illegal won in court.
The judge orders one of the two maps submitted by the plaintiffs ('map 1') be used.
The ruling, if it stands, guarantees that Democrats will pick up a congressional seat in Utah next year.

This isn't "internal recriminations." It's voters expressing overwhelming opposition to what the people they elected to represent them are doing, and anyone--either in journalism or politics--who characterizes it as infighting is either not seeing and hearing what's right in front of them or lying.
The sooner we get past internal recriminations and back to fighting united, the better off we all are — the likelier our victory next November.

In 2024, California had
9 Congressional races decided by less than seven points. After Proposition 50, that number might be down to 1.
Less competition means it will be easier to interfere with the 2026 election. I’m quoted in the New Yorker explaining why: www.newyorker.com/news/the-led...

California Strikes Back in the Redistricting War
As the midterms approach, Republicans are trying to gerrymander new seats, and Democrats are responding in kind. Can either side win?

The coordinated nature of this—none are facing voters in 2026—means that either Schumer approved it or failed in his job as Senate Majority Leader to stop it.
Dems voting "no" get zero credit until they demand a change in leadership. Schumer out as Leader, Durbin out as Whip.

The best take on all of this shutdown came from @shannonrwatts.bsky.social who told me this would only end by Republicans killing the filibuster or Democrats caving. That’s it. But Schumer somehow broadcast that Republicans would cave when they never gave any indication they would.

American politics makes a lot more sense when you realize that the GOP is afraid of pissing off the GOP base, and the Dems are afraid of pissing off the GOP base, but neither party is afraid of pissing off the Dem base.

Still upset about no power of the purse language. You truly do hate to see it. The Trump admin undertook the most expansive set of illegal budgetary actions of any president in history, and broadcast as loudly as possible they’d keep doing it, and nothing. Budgetary lawlessness.
