This is exactly why things like ethics, unconscious bias and general confronting of people’s racism in science IS necessary and will always be necessary.

Guess what? My ADHD brain also makes it very hard for me to lie, or it at least shows on my face; so when I say I am able to collaborate on a project or fit a role, it is because I truly believe I have something of value to add.
Yes, I have what are considered "diverse" interests for academia. My web page, scholarly profiles, and CV all reflect this. I do not fit nicely into a single field. I create bridges. I work across and with different disciplines. When is that going to stop hurting me?
