Disruption is all they seem to understand—so that’s exactly what they’re getting. For 14 hours, @booker.senate.gov has been on the Senate floor, speaking truth within the rules. This cannot be business as usual when our democracy’s on the line. Thank you, senator.

Oh, now we're dragging people out of the SOTU.

Democrats, your job is not to be quieter because Al Green got dragged out. It's your job to get LOUDER.

the vice president of the united states is a groyper who spends his online time following nazis and esoteric reactionary influencers is true and yet the press seems completely disinterested in it
If you listen to that last clip of the US VP doing the rounds, it does feel like some sort of analysis showing what these people are huffing on the regular is sorely missing from mainstream commentary
This is it. You cannot explain in polite conversation that the higher echelons of US policy making are on personal terms with something called Bronze Age Pervert without yourself sounding like a maniac

Pundits keep pretending that RFK Jr is "anti Big Pharma" but that is just what anti-vaxxers say to make their ideas seem palatable. He constantly promotes Ivermectin and Hydroxychloroquine, both of which are produced by pharma companies.
When you normalize totally deranged ideas that could kill millions as if it's "being tough on big pharma" you do in fact pave the way for millions to die. This is a direct cause and effect relationship.

the GOP executed the same slow motion coup on North Carolina - which now is fully controlled by a gerrymandered slate legislature on rigged maps - that they are trying to enact in the United States as a whole.
NEW: North Carolina's GOP rushed through a lame-duck bill that guts the powers of incoming Democratic officials. The bill is a pot-pourri of major changes.

a BIG one: GOP just seized control of all of North Carolina's state and county election boards.

We break down what in the world happened:
GOP Grabs Control of North Carolina Election Boards, Rushing to Erase November Losses
In their final weeks before they lose the ability to pass laws, Republican lawmakers gutted the powers of incoming Democratic officials and upended who runs elections.

How the fuck are they still doing this? We are at a point when in the same state as University of Austin the government is literally censoring certain words and ideas from the classroom & the federal government is going to try to do the same at a national level. Absolute disconnection from reality.
As contempt for cancel culture and self-censorship on college campuses continues to drive a political divide across the country, Jon Wertheim reports on a new start-up university, the University of Austin. Sunday on 60 Minutes ⏱️

Echoing this point, worth noting that e.g. increased police discretionary enforcement in immigrant neighborhoods will absolutely produce more people who have "a criminal record for a non-violent offense." Criminal records correspond to CJ system behavior more than behavior of criminalized ppl
