My Steam and PSN in review, along with my Top 10 for GOTY.

Really loved Clair Obscur, Death Stranding 2, and Hades II (mechanically at least). So many of the games from this year I thought about well after I was done, even lower on my list: 4-10 were pleasant surprises for me.

Early Access and the way they managed their community across all their updates helped humanize that team in ways that only helped Baldur’s Gate 3, weird for the studio to be so willing to throw all that goodwill away.
I think it's nice when concept art shows the evolution of people's creative processes instead of a prompt, but what do I know

Playing Metroid Prime 4 and two things immediately within the first hour:
1) Samus really has got to stop touching weird alien things.
2) This game really is Ocarina of Time with an arm cannon, huh? (Not a negative, just interesting)

Great review on what I've been supremely curious about with the rollercoaster on Let It Die: Inferno: first, the game's existence; second, the news about the game's heavy AI usage; third, the inevitable crappy result of shortcuts using genAI.

Disappointing after the first game's subversive style.
I shouldn't have to write a lengthy critique of the use of genAI while discussing a series that, historically, has celebrated art & music. Do not buy Let It Die: Inferno, or realistically, any game that uses generative AI. Our review: www.rpgsite.net/review/19037...

I want to play more of what I missed from 2025, but I also just want to vibe delivering packages around Death Stranding 2. Game too good.

Well well well.

I love my Steam Deck, and I think Valve are probably the best positioned to crack the consolization of PC gaming. Design looks great, but in the current environment, cost might be tough against what will be something that delivers somewhere between XBONE S and a regular PS5.

I wish I could pop off about how much I think AI stinks and nobody should be using it, but instead I'm getting AI summaries from superiors who are "skeptical" of AI tools generally and a lot of my industry colleagues are all talking about it as if it is inevitable and forever :(

Blaming economic collapse on a "sweet treat" is crazy
“At the same time, more than half of Gen Z members say they are struggling to make ends meet, yet a majority buy themselves a small treat, such as a pastry, coffee, or sweet, at least once a week. That can lead to overspending…”

I just went through a Brazilian bureaucratic ritual to resolve some old paperwork to get my passport over there renewed. Despite how involved it was, it feels like the future how you can do all this via email and WhatsApp and real people respond to your shit!

Other governments should modernize!

Double shot, chaser.

We don't allow AI authorship in our publications, but suddenly we're going to allow staff to enter in potentially proprietary stuff into an AI that Microsoft pinky promises it wont be used to train their LLM?

Loaded up the FFT Remake and overwhelmed by nostalgia. This game rocks, the enhancements are good, and this feels like the right time in history for this story to find a new audience.

Starting a thread of my Hades II wins, kind of how I did with Hades on the other platform:

1st win was with the Ax, of all things. Having more Death Defiance helped, but buffing the Special attack and trying to do that from afar because of the bonuses really clutched it for me.

the political policy cure for “male loneliness” is

- more time to hang with the fellas (4 day work week)

- more money to spend with the fellas (higher wages)

- more things to do with the fellas (taxing the rich and building 3rd spaces)

Reading up on the differences between base Y0 (the best game in the series) and the DC, I think most people would probably be better off picking up the original Y0. Double dipping on this would make more sense if the changes were better
Yakuza 0 Director's Cut port confirmed for Steam/PS5/Xbox Series. Out Dec 8

XBL

*Save data from Yakuza 0 does not carry over to Yakuza 0 Director's Cut.
