I’m Ryan! Utah, TTRPGs, coding, ham radio, board games, and probably going to post cute photos of my puggle Skye.
So there should be a “tried to destroy america” anti-trust thing for big companies, right? Is there something like this already?

Apple Music somehow the only service that won’t let me stream the new TS album at release time?

if the Biden Irrelevancy had one clear lesson it's that you can't retake democracy from those who would destroy it and then spend years slow-rolling the arrests of those responsible while failing to explicitly change the rules to keep them from power
Something I wonder about for real is what comes after this, whenever that is. Because it can't be this again, right? Like if this is what the presidency is now then we can't ever have another president

If we value our freedoms we should be pushing back very strongly on internet censorship, age verification laws, and that payment processor content restriction stuff.

I see the articles and posts about it. But where do I send money or what bills are coming that we can support or prevent?

Ham radio software is sometimes rough. It’s a hobby that feels very compatible with open source, but so many apps in the community are closed source and windows only.

For example, I was playing with my new Icom IC-705. It will act like a usb sound card when plugged in, but is nicer to use the wifi.

The idea that the Supreme Court can be ignored because we care about El Salvador’s sovereignty is an interesting take.

Pretty sure the US has overthrown governments of other countries on a lot less legal authority than the Supreme Court.

The Trump thing you are worried about is obviously just a distraction from the real Trump crisis that I alone understand.

Is… is the plan to replace the department of education with federal grants to churches so they churches can do the schools from now on? That’s going to be the pitch, right?

100% this.

A “just a distraction” is if Trump or Elon wear an odd outfit or say they don’t like a popular band.

But actual policy and actions are real and those are the things we should care about and pay attention to.
I wince at people calling every single thing a distraction. Even if it is a distraction it’s still

1) a thing that is actually happening

2) a thing that is hurting people

3) a thing that also needs to be fought and illuminated

“It’s just a distraction”feels so dismissive.
Re: "distractions":

Most people I know are capable of paying attention to more than one thing at a time.

You're trying to decide for other people what they should or shouldn't focus on.

One person's distraction may be another person's health or safety.

I assume this recent spending executive order is a way to force organizations to the bend the knee to get their stuff funded? He gets public loyalty pledges and then gets to deny any programs that don’t, “saving” the money?

Was telling my son how my salary this year FINALLY caught up with what the US government offered me in 1998 to design nuclear submarines & he was like, “ah, yes, the life of a teacher” & that led to me telling him the story about my Worst Job Interview Ever

During time off during Christmas week I GMd a one shot Christmas themed D&D adventure for my niece and nephew and brother in law. We had a lot of fun!

Today my nephew ran his own adventure and I was a player! So proud! 🥹🥰

Someone was obnoxious on BlueSky and was leaning into it to emphasize how those critical of them were wrong. But then their whole posting history was obnoxious so I blocked them. It was nice!

Reuters article headline “UnitedHealth murder suspect has angry
outburst as details of his life emerge”.

Should be “… and entirely unrelated, details of his life emerge”. How hard is this? I have a new headline: “average newspaper editor implies causality for views”.

Weird takes on Bernie in the feed. Sure he’s not perfect. But if he says “yeah, I’d support lowering credit card interest rates with Trump”, you’re allowed to be upset at the approach.

But obviously trump isn’t going to do this, and this is obviously Bernie saying “I dare you”.
