Let me introduce myself. I'm a professor @usask.bsky.social at the University of Saskatchewan. My group works on invasive wild pigs, caribou, wolves, and other beasties. I take the responsibility of my academic freedom very seriously and use it and good science to hopefully have some influence.

Subway should really be offering an anti-ice 'throwing sandwich' at this point, made of nothing but onions and mustard.

People of Saskatchewan are even now having a hard time understanding just how bad the SaskParty has failed us all on health care. This is a legitimate crisis.

Its weird how little my life involves nunchucks, quick sand, and stopping/dropping/rolling despite what I thought were big deals in 1984.

Budget drop confirms $180 million over the next five years to continue strengthening the Hudson Bay Railway and diversifying operations at the Port of Churchill.

Hopefully this puts to rest the absolute nonsense around considering Port Nelson as another option, even though we know it is a scam.

Having some buyer's remorse with respect to Carney. I mean obviously PeePee was/is a trainwreck and Carney was the only viable candidate worth even considering, but he is more conservative than I was hoping/expecting.

As a Canadian researcher/academic, it's beyond discouraging that the federal gov't is rolling out the welcome mat for foreign assistant professors, doctoral students and postdocs, while *cutting* domestic research funding and doing nothing to support those of us who are already here, doing the work.

Budget dropped.

$150 million in new funding for CBC/Radio-Canada to modernize and "strengthen its mandate".

A concession to the Bloc Québécois but one I think it is an overall good move.

I know several friends in the federal government that are very much fearing they will lose their jobs with this new budget.

It may have some good parts but if it leaves hard working Canadians that have devoted their life to civil service unemployed then it isn't anything to brag about.
By building our strength at home and working with new trade partners around the world, we will create more prosperity for Canadian workers, families, and businesses.
