I’m at a Kemi Badenoch speech in London where she will take aim at other parties’ “psychodrama” and say the Tories are getting on with the job - while also, curiously, taking a pop at Tory centrists, seemingly in response to Andy Street and Ruth Davidson raising a few polite concerns.

I don't want Labour to become involved in factional war over Andy Burnham not been chosen to stand in a local by-election.
Given their majority in Parliament potentially losing a by-election is nowhere near as catastrophic as possibly losing the mayoralty of Manchester.
It was a rational decision.

Ground rent cap is good news (though peppercorn would be better straight away). Also welcome is promised abolition of new leasehold properties. Better still would be the outright abolition of leasehold altogether, a feudal anachronism virtually unique to England and Wales.

The Labour Defence Secretary has begun the debate for the Armed Forces Bill's second reading.

This is a very important bill, which includes the necessary perodic renewal require to ensure our armed forces can continue.

Yet not a single Reform MP was present in the Commons for the debate!

For the Lords to force this to fail would be an outrage. It's clear that, for some, no version of the bill would be acceptable. That and the manner of amendments and delay shows that it is not merely extra scrutiny, it is deliberately undermining the Commons decision.
EXC - MPs and peers who backed the assisted dying bill now believe it is “near impossible” for it to pass the House of Lords in time because of procedural obstacles used by opponents.

“It is our system at its absolute most dysfunctional,” one MP said.

Minneapolis police chief Brian O'Hara says that the victim was a 37-year-old white man and US citizen with no criminal record and that he was a legally permitted gun owner.

My class made a video to go with his 'Right, Said Fred' and I gave him a copy.
He asked for the names of every child involved.
A couple.of weeks later, the school received a box of goodies and handwritten notes for every child.
A legend.

Exactly this. The insanity of banging on about free speech half the time, and bleating "Look at this tweet! Deport him!" the other half, is never pointed out - and never EVER challenged, in softball interviews intended to elicit maximum heat and minimum light.

It is utterly exhausting.
We need a Ken Clarke type figure to tell people to stop being so ridiculous, if we stripped citizenship every time somebody said appalling things, we’d be expelling an awfully large number of people

Allows the Greens and LD to be constantly shouted over, interrupting them constantly herself, while letting the Reform sociopath insult the audience and lie through his teeth.
