While @ukhomeoffice.bsky.social proposes new powers to shut down free speech/peaceful protest, my local mosque was set on fire last night, two worshippers fled for their lives.

Instead of divisive crackdowns, why won’t Shabana Mahmood invest in community cohesion to stop it happening?

I agree with @amnestyuk.bsky.social
When any government arrests peaceful protesters trying to stop a genocide, it has gone horribly wrong and slipped into bullying authoritarianism.
There is no justification. This proscription must be reversed or terrorism laws risk total disrepute.

A blast from past when our moral position was clear. Now more than ever a full embargo, immediate recognition of Palestine, opening of humanitarian and food supplies, full withdrawal from Gaza and West Bank, and an end to genocide & apartheid is the only honourable position.

100k-200k people turned out to march at Budapest Pride yesterday, more than ever before. They did so despite the threat of “legal consequences” from Viktor Orbán.

It was the biggest protest in Hungary since the fall of communism in 1989. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

We ARE becoming strangers — not because of migrants, but because of insecure work, (anti-)social media, lack of shared spaces and low wages preventing socialising.

Bring back youth clubs, fix community centres, support workers. Invest in our country — don’t scapegoat migrants.

Sussex farmer Stephen Carr used to have an EU flag sign at the end of his drive.

It was vandalised so often he gave up repainting it.

Now? He’s thinking of digging out the blue & gold paint.

Maybe this time, people will understand why.

Disabled people are harder than everyone else because our additional costs have gone up. This is forcing more Disabled people to claim PIP, but it’s not because they’re out of work. 41% of new PIP claims in 2023 were from people who are in work, and many say that PIP helps them to stay in work.

This is key to solving the housing crises. We need councils to set up development bodies and use Compulsory purchase orders to utilise land for the good of the community.

Since announcing my diagnosis of metastatic breast cancer a few weeks ago I’ve become increasingly aware of how misunderstood the condition is.

So I want to debunk a few misconceptions:
