Every writer who generates a slop image for their work is a class traitor.

"I can't afford a visual artist"

So your solution is stabbing artists in the back? Stealing from them?

Furthermore, slop-generated imagery suggests slop-generated writing. That's how you're presenting yourself.

Actual psychologist here, and there are 2 things I would like to point out:

1. This sort of "we tried our best / we weren't so bad" is very much a classic move of the awful authoritarian and/or narcissistic parent, they've always done this and social media has allowed them more reach 🧵
Welcome to the pissed-off parent pushback: After years of therapists and others encouraging adult children to cut ties with families they deem harmful or “toxic,” estranged parents are speaking out on.wsj.com/4s49U52
These Moms Are Done Being ‘Doormats’ for Their Estranged Children
Parents publicly blast their adult offspring for cutting them off, drawing tens of thousands of online followers.

This take is killing me lmao

I LOST my art job to AI.
Thousands of people got booted from their creative positions and replaced with AI and somehow THIS is the sentiment cropping up?
Fuck all the way off, outlaw that shit and the jobs return. Stop acting like this was an inevitability.
It's greed.
So are you going to seek the job or not mate. You can only phase out algorithmic tools in full if people are doing all the jobs that relate to its use.

Against Immersion: The Holodeck Must Burn

This is not a place of honor. No highly esteemed deed is commemorated here. Nothing valued is here. For a long time I have been opposed to the idea of immersion in video games, to the idea that people become "immersed" in fictional worlds. I believe there is no specific mental state that can be referred to as being "immersed" in a video game or work of media.

I know that someone who mainly plays Nintendo and indie stuff these days is a “Type of Guy” but at this point it feels like literally everybody else is using genAI so it’s a bit hard not to be that Type of Guy

I'm on the infra team of the US division of a big big big company, and the enthusiasm for AI code at every single level is deafening.

The question isn't "does this game use AI-generated concept art?", it's "do every single one of the apps you're using have AI-generated code?" and the answer is yes.

Also as someone who actually works in infra/DevOps/SRE, I can say that almost every single professional project in 2025 is using AI to write code and it's not because it's being forced on us from above but because the devs are excited about it like kids in a toy store.

I think you either gotta take a no-tolerance policy with buying/playing games that use AI in ANY capacity at ANY stage of development or just leave the conversation man

Like either you're against it or not I can't stand the posturing when you don't even practice what you preach

Another wonderful new restoration done for the Million Dollar Cat (1944) for the complete Tom and Jerry Blu-Ray set! This one is another childhood favourite of mine and this scene features one of my favourite times when Tom actually talks! Let me know if you’ve seen this one (or bought the set yet)

You know what I really think makes Pokemon special. To me, at least.

I spoke about how Pokemon themselves are kind of a mundane thing in their own world, but I think that applies to the player and their feats as well.
