When D.C. residents have to lobby Congress to stop it from doing things that could be harmful to the city, they’re told to contact their… oh, right. No senators or voting representatives.
@maustermuhle.bsky.social You might want to know that two parents from our kids' school said Sens. Mark Kelly and Angus King told them "contact your own representatives" when they contacted them about the bill that would cut DC's budget. Uhhh... and apparently King even said "contact your senator"!

In the meantime, NHGIS (https://www.nhgis.org/) has much of the data you'll need, and will remain functional. NHGIS has the latest ACS data and Census data back to 1790 along with Census boundary files.

Remember that our tax dollars paid for this data. It is our data. The government is the people. Every dataset removed is theft. #gischat
One of our country's _most_ foundational geographic datasets has been either pulled down or otherwise configured to prevent access.

Not sure it's possible to overstate the value of Census' free/publicly available TIGER files to research and journalism and, at least for now, it's gone.
