The spot on the river where I saw this nice fish is really close to the place that inspired this painting from a couple of years ago. It's such a beautiful stretch of water and full of wildlife, especially this time of year

The big “why do you hate AI?” Thread got comments and quotes turned off, but here’s the main reason I hate AI:

It’s being developed by the worst people on the planet solely to enrich themselves at the expense and labor of the world’s vulnerable populations. Everything else stems from that

Saw someone say, "End your friendships with people who are going about life like nothing is wrong." I will never understand people who think that further isolating ourselves from everyday people who don't get it is going to save us. It's not. Your judgment and disdain will not save us.

Your gender is part of your identity, and your identity is not subject to government mandate.

They'll lie and say it is. They'll hurt you to make you believe it is.

But no government so weak as to try to beat you straight has ever been able to endure.

Smart idea from @vox.com: The Logoff, a newsletter covering the President that promises to boil down things he did/said to what matters, give key context, etc. An excuse not to have to follow him around like a dog chasing a fire truck. (After all, you don't write a newsletter about him!)

i beg people, re Musk's Nazi salute and other similar trolling, don't get pulled into debating the symbolic meanings of things by these people. it's a trap.

you know what it was, i know what it was, we all know. but in the meantime, they're trying to eradicate real human beings.
“The New York Times went with ‘Elon Musk Ignites Online Speculation Over the Meaning of a Hand Gesture.’ The Washington Post opted for ‘Elon Musk gives exuberant speech at inauguration.’ Some local TV stations even cut their footage right before the first and most obvious salute.”

there’s a version of Anita Bryant’s life - one that would have been so easy, if she had tried - in which it was the gays who eulogized her today: a beloved chanteuse who sang melancholy torch songs.

She chose otherwise, and curdled her life and memory. And history found her like this.

So it goes.

I see a lot of folks gleeful that MAGA factions are attacking each other, but remember that backstabbing your way to the top is very common in corrupt states. Be mindful that whoever is the craftiest and most immoral tends to rise. Then we're left with them in power.

very much into movies where a variety of characters at a party play around with forces they don't truly understand (supernatural or science fiction) and chaos ensues. I love the mundane setting of a house party being disrupted by the unknown.

We have seen Manga targeted in Texas, too. Keep in mind book banners are working to restrict and remove (ie ban) books in public community libraries *and* school libraries- often the same types of books- even the same titles.

Demonizing entire genres is an efficient way to ban a lot of books.
SCREEN RANT: “(Tennessee) School libraries say goodbye to beloved Manga franchises… the Tennessee prohibition is arguably the biggest and most worrisome yet…”

Thanks to big government Republican censorship TN is fast becoming #1 in book banning. 📚 screenrant.com/manga-ban-te...
