i think this happened bc a lot of people assume tech workers are smart and smart people are progressive/liberal but you’re bypassing the big thing which is a lot of tech workers are RICH.
i never under why people said Silicon Valley was exceptionally liberal when women and people of color have always been very underrepresented and discriminated against there.

the only reason that tech was ever remotely left-coded was that in the early 2010s they consciously aligned themselves with what appeared to be the dominant political party. that meant large donations to Dems and nominal gestures toward diversity. as soon as the winds shifted they swung right.

It just occurred to me that Twitter has pretty much become the new National Enquirer. This person has 1.8 MILLION followers and provides content that is basically tabloid trash ca. 1981. Only now it reaches far more people instantaneously, on their phone.

Sam Levinson definitely needs to bring other people in to help with writing but I appreciate that in this sterile, PG-fied, maximize the audience and the profit environment, there’s someone willing to shamelessly rely on cheap titillation. He’s bottom of the barrel but unfortunately all we’ve got

Like Challengers for example worked largely because of the acting and the score. The camera stuff at the end was fun but for the most part the direction was the weakest part of the movie. If the actors were less charismatic and energetic it would be a lot more forgettable

For all the cliches that Hollywood only picks pretty people to be actors I rarely see terrible onscreen performances - mid sometimes, good most times. What I DO see often is bad directing, muddled storylines, inconsistent characterization. Actors are fighting for their lives out here
