This is the way
Got reminded today that gout is a chronic disease that can strike without warning.
Luckily I have some colchicine for just this occasion but until it takes effect I’m going to try to stay off the foot.
I’ve been doing so well at managing it lately. Don’t know what triggered it. Sigh and ouch.

Finished the Great Deku Tree (breath of the wild version, of course). It was a fairly simple build without too many surprises. There are a ton of nods to the series in it that made me smile every time I found one. #Lego has been at the top of their game lately.

This is an insanely good deal for some of the best games in the genre.
Actually, they're some of the best games in any genre.

@janochoa.bsky.social the 3d scanner app my colleague uses is called Polycam 3d scanner. It uses the LiDAR on modern iPhones or iPads to do the scanning and the file works with different video editors. Hope it helps!

I second everything said here. This is one of those games that I think ONLY works as a game.
It’s one of the most compelling experiences I’ve had in years and everyone should spend some time with it. It’s special.
If I could make everyone play one game of my choice it would be 13 Sentinels.

It's such a hard sell, but I think it's genuinely one of the best games that have come out in the past decade. I'm confident that a lot of people who wouldn't usually be into this style of game, would enjoy it immensely.

It’s neat to have this information from the new Nintendo store app, but I’m convinced some of the numbers aren’t right. It shows a whole lot at just over one hour when I’m sure I played them for at least 10 and I think there’s at least one missing from the over 50. Still, pretty neat!

Building the Great Deku Tree, which is making me want to start playing Breath of the Wild again.
Hestu's maracas work, since there is a tiny loose piece in each one.
It's that careful attention to detail that makes these sets worth the price.

The NES is 40 years old today in North America, which means that Nintendo has been a part of my life for just about my entire living memory.

This was a fun little build full of nostalgia for me, since we did have a Game Boy back in the day.
Lego continues to impress me with the care it takes with everything it does.
The d-pad and the buttons work! The on-off switch and the volume and contrast dials work!
I'm so glad this company exists.

Had to take a break from Silksong so I started Fire Emblem on the GBA NSO. I don't remember ever finishing it, but I'm definitely making sure I do this time.
GBA pixel art might be my favorite medium. The artists who worked in it were at the peak of their profession.

I found some Yirgacheffe coffee at the local import store over the weekend. It’s some of the most delicious I’ve ever had. I’ve always loved Ethiopian coffee but this stuff is on another level.
I may have to go back and clear out their stock.

Just finished Act 1 of Hollow Knight Silksong. It’s just as hauntingly beautiful as the first game. Hornet is a delightful protagonist and the rest of the cast is equally so. There are secrets and stories hidden everywhere.
It’s difficult but not overwhelming, at least for now.
Worth waiting for.

This was incredibly sweet and kind.
Dudes rock.
I love this so much and I am absolutely tearing up about it. The gentleness and plainness of this, the way he just lets her be her (and she seems so damn lovely, who wouldn’t?), the generosity.

It isn’t going to solve the world’s problems, but this kind of humanity is a hell of a start.

Excellent and thoughtful writing as always from Kimimi.
Play what you want how you want to. You make great stories no matter what.

Impeccable technique.
Dude is putting on a clinic looking like he just got finished doing someone’s taxes 😂
Watch this balding unc fuck up some dudes on his lunchbreak, forearm shiver to make space and hit one foot Kobe fallaways while wearing a tucked in polo

SUPERMAN (2025) was excellent, proving once again that James Gunn was the right choice to head DC’s film division.
Fascinating to see it in China, where the audience was small (at least in my Sunday afternoon show) but passionate about the Man of Steel.

My brother and I watched HEADS OF STATE last night.
It was so stupid and so awesome.
I loved every minute of it.

A really good article that summarizes the disconnect I’ve had between my experience (awesome) with Switch 2 and the critical reception and discussion around it.

Staying with grandma for a few days and fixing some things up for her, including a Samsung phone that was constantly serving full screen unskippable ads.
There were at least 8 “phone cleaner” apps she had installed via pop up ads in other apps.
Had to explain why she should never do that.

San Francisco is still a great food city.

Got my Switch 2 today from an import store in a mall near my home. After the update I’m downloading Hitman and wasting the rest of the day on it. 😂

Tomorrow I head back to California to spend time with my family. Unfortunately my wife can't come as her visitor's visa was denied, but I'm not sure I'd want her to at this point in time. It sucks, but there's nothing I can do.

Yet another perk of living in China:
The dry beef hot pot.
This is from a local shop that’s very popular. The soup in the middle is there so you can boil leafy green vegetables to dip in a spicy sauce.

This is great news. All the best of luck to these guys. Support them if you can. There’s precious few sites doing what they do and they’re taking a big risk in this media environment.
Giant Bomb lives! Fandom has sold the site to us and it is now fully independent and employee-owned. We'll see you all on Tuesday for the Giant Bombcast.

So, uh, The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy is really something. I’m on day 45 and it just keeps getting weirder, more complicated, and messier in the best ways. I genuinely don’t know what to expect but I’m relishing every moment.
