When I feel down, I remind myself that we’re only a few years from The Three Stooges shorts starting to enter the public domain.

I’ve been rewatching the Coen Bros filmography this month and while drawing a Barton Fink illustration, it struck me how much their films feel like Far Side cartoons: funny, strange, clever, yet frequently inscrutable. Anyway here’s a thread!

I feel like we owe Kojima an apology because he’s like “This is my villain, Corrupto Moneyguy. He controls the media and eats children.” As it turns out, this is a nuanced and accurate view of global politics.

The difference between the SD version and the 4K restoration of But I'm a Cheerleader is honestly shocking -- and wouldn't have been possible if the director hadn't stolen the film elements from the studio years ago, before they threw them out

!! This is also from one of the years that is particularly important to my thesis. Even if it doesn't contain information about the games that I was writing about, just having more, accessible game history is so important.
If you have never watched this classic game documentary, BBC Archive have now added it. A fascinating insight into the old Imagine and Ocean - and the infamous Bandersnatch.

This one can just go straight into the thesis
If Hideo Kojima can make Death Stranding all by himself there’s simply no excuse for other solo devs not to be making games on a similar scale

🎮 Retro games shaped generations. But many are vanishing.

Some, like educational games by Yaakov Kirschen, who died on April 14, were almost lost forever.

My spoiler-free review of Severance S2 is that it was very good and I liked it, but it could have benefited from being about two episodes shorter. I am glad I stuck with it, and was very pleased with the ending.

I say this to my own clients and prospects already, but: Avoid Cambridge if you can, all right? This right here is why.
Welp. Cambridge University Press is sending out contract amendments asking authors for their consent to allow CUP to license their work to train generative AI in exchange for a royalty cut.

Some people don't know this, so I'll tell the story again: Masi Oka is the cofounder of Mobius Digital, and co-producer of Outer Wilds (2019).

Without Hiro Nakamura, this incredibly brilliant space game wouldn't exist. 😁

Oka has also worked for ILM. On the Prequels and Mission to Mars (2000).🤟
