move the u.s. towards being more like hungary or russia, so that it's easier for fascism to rule

it's a form of accelerationism: burning the country and the world down so that it no lo longer is hospitable to a free society, but is sociologically/economically/etc prone to enable fascist governments

Auchincloss: Trump doesn’t have to face the voters again, so I understand what he's doing. He's trying to hook up all these billionaires who invested in his campaign. He owes them, but for the life of me, I can’t understand why Republicans are allowing Trump to frog-march them off the gangplank.

After much fanfare, the “Epstein files” that Puppet Trump and his minions hyped up ended up being a total scam.

They tried to fool you though 😂

Invited all their influencers to take pictures with *empty binders* like we were gonna fall for that. Trump’s not going to release a list he’s on. DUH!

Every single Democratic governor and attorney general needs to do this -- if only to make it clear to voters *right now* that the firings and funding freezes that are about to hurt their states badly are the work of Trump-Musk in Washington.

Get ahead of this now, or get blamed for it later.
Arizona AG Kris Mayes, New Mexico AG Raul Torrez, and Oregon AG Dan Rayfield will begin holding Community Impact Hearings — a national series of townhalls "to hear from the public about the impact of federal firings and DOGE funding freezes across the country."

The first will be in Phoenix March 5.

I don’t even mean this at the extreme end of authoritarianism. You can go to Budapest and enjoy a weekend the same way you might in Montreal or Paris. Stay in a Hampton, go to a park, shop at an H&M, grab a coffee. But in the background is corruption, a broken rule of law, decreased civil rights.

It’s hard to communicate the crisis that’s unfolding and the dangers ahead because a lot of superficial things won’t change. The Netflix will still turn on. Your sports teams will play. You’ll see movies. But the things that make liberal democratic life uniquely stable, secure, & vibrant will decay.
