Literally every new technology is derided for a while as being bad and not as good as what’s already there. “A person with a new idea is a crank until the idea succeeds” Twain. AI boosters might be looking at future potential while AI critics focus on current failures.
Trying to think of any previous technology that needed this many people out there telling everyone that they're wrong about how it stinks and it is very good and helpfully actually
