Masked agents erode the foundation of trust our communities need to function.

This is what happens when power operates without accountability. We can’t let this become normal. #MaskOffRightsOn

The indifference of the Republican Party is gut wrenching & repugnant.

The problem is that this could have also been said in 1985….so the head start is crazy
Today’s GOP doesn’t want votes, it wants power. That’s why they gerrymander, purge voters, and pack courts. It’s not about democracy—it’s about dominance. If we don’t call it what it is—minority rule enforced by fear—we’re sleepwalking into tyranny.

Three things made the US a rich and powerful nation: the rule of law, its science & innovation system, and openness to foreign talent. Remarkable how Trump has taken a sledgehammer to all three. No enemy of this country could do more.

No….but really….it has had SO MANY TERRIBLE ripple effects
Bush v Gore is definitely the turning point for the American democratic project

It’s a dark time for the US and for the world
How the hell did we let this happen as a country? All of our top health officials are fucking anti-science cranks.

Wow! This is really something
Quote of the Day:

“We, the unwilling, led by the unknowing, are doing the impossible for the ungrateful.

We have done so much, for so long, with so little, we are now qualified to do anything with nothing.”

This is the attention economy in a nutshell. It’s not about an accurate view of the world. It’s a reflection of whatever will make some company the most money
2. Then I realized: people are commenting on, viewing, liking, and reading comments on posts about Biden, so the algorithm is feeding them more posts about Biden, and it feels like that’s all anyone is talking about.

“Because of the attention economy, it is not a free speech environment. It is a curated one, where tech giants ultimately decide what you see based on the data they collect and the money they are going to make" — Sasha Havlicek

This sounds like another need for r*g*lation!

No.
Just…..no.
WELKER: Your secretary of state says everyone who's here, citizens and non-citizens, deserve due process. Do you agree?

TRUMP: I don't know. I'm not a lawyer. I don't know.

WELKER: Don't you need to uphold the Constitution?

TRUMP: I don't know

Where are the articles of impeachment? There’s a new reason everyday and I want all of them documented…:there should be at least 30 articles by now
"I do solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."

No matter how obvious your crimes — even when we all saw them live on television, you're still entitled to your day in court to prove whatever your position or POV.
Friendly reminder. In the United States, criminals are entitled to due process. Even if you pay hush money rig an election, steal top secret documents, or incite a mob to overthrow the government; no matter how egregious your crimes, you’re entitled to due process.

We need to fight the treat arm-in-arm.But we need leadership w/discernment. If you misdiagnosed this threat, you should not take a front seat in analyzing the current moment or providing the strategy for how we confront what we are facing w/o admitting how badly you misjudged the threat. And LISTEN.

This isn't about making anyone feel "bad" but about understanding that in moments of crisis we need to elevate voices from the best among us; imploring some to find enough humility to accept that this select ensemble may not include them.....at least not on this subject.
If you have a public platform & spent years calming everyone down, telling us Trump was not a danger, was not racist, & arguing that the best way to deal w/Trump was to laugh at him, berated ppl who used the word fascist, insisted that the two parties are the same, admit YOU WERE WRONG.

Before the election, I warned that there is no safe haven under authoritarianism.

If they can ship Kilmar Abrego Garcia to a foreign prison—accused of no crime, with no trial—they can do it to anyone.

Americans of conscience must stand against this now.

As much as I appreciate his indignation, I do wish some of our representatives were more eloquent. In an age of content clips and entertainment, more fluid comms are ultimately more effective (this is partially why ppl like Mayor Pete so much, he rarely stumbles in his speech)
Rep. Steven Horsford to Greer: "So the trade representative hasn't spoken to the POTUS about a global reordering of trade, but yet he announced it on a tweet? WTF! Who is in charge? It looks like your boss just pulled the rug out from under you. There is no strategy ... is this market manipulation?"
