Is the language for that specific situation genuinely “extremely harmful” to a completely different context, group of people and behavioral rationale, or did you take this chance to derail and show umbrage as a means of centering yourself in an org’s efforts to address a pressing societal problem?

The indifference of the Republican Party is gut wrenching & repugnant.

That’s essentially the thesis of both @chrislhayes.bsky.social’s “The Siren’s Call” and its ideological predecessor, @neilpostman.bsky.social’s “Amusing Ourselves to Death”

Mrs Ifill is not advocating for "I told you so." She's asking those who were so egregiously wrong about assessing this threat to stop taking up oxygen and attention from those who accurately warned of our current predicament and were chided despite their clear-eyed foretelling.

We need to fight the treat arm-in-arm.But we need leadership w/discernment. If you misdiagnosed this threat, you should not take a front seat in analyzing the current moment or providing the strategy for how we confront what we are facing w/o admitting how badly you misjudged the threat. And LISTEN.
