The New UNC logo is right on target--fund football and starve academics and research. How many millions did we spend on the re-brand??

Why can't I find a digital clock that will actually keep time reliably? I feel like clocks used to stay accurate once the time had been set, but now they seem to start losing minutes after a few days. I'm unable to find a clock that actually does the only job a clock has.

wikipedia's data shows that AI is siphoning traffic away from the site, which is a danger to its sustainability. ironically Wikipedia is more important than ever to users who want reliable information instead of slop, and to AI companies that need it for training data www.404media.co/wikipedia-sa...

My latest: "Numerous studies show that majors in the humanities—typically, in departments of English, history, philosophy, religious studies, classics and languages—lead students to employment and life satisfaction outcomes as positive as those for majors traditionally championed as 'practical.'”

"...Everything from official seals to uniform patches and medals might have to be replaced—and for what? Because a president who never served a day in uniform and a macho-obsessed former Army major think that using words like war will provide the sense of purpose and gravity they both lack?"
"The cost of renaming the DOD will run into tens of millions of dollars, maybe much more. Isn’t this an administration that only months ago unleashed an ignorant bazillionaire on the federal workforce in the name of efficiency and cost reductions?"
It is impossible to overstate the inanity of the vapid and stupid stunt of renaming the Defense Department, and Congress should step in and put a stop to it immediately.

I cannot stress enough how very much OK it is to be wrong, and to admit it. It is of no value to you intellectually or psychically to refuse new information or to be unwilling to defer. That momentary ache of pride is meaningless when compared to the joy of learning something new.

Every paragraph in this story is more terrifying than the last. All the way down to the end. This is so, so bad and it goes far beyond the NLRB.
HOLY SHIT. You need to read this in its entirety. Way too much to even begin to summarize but it's really, REALLY bad. It's just one agency, NLRB, but it's likely happening at others. We are under attack, seemingly from the inside. What's happening here should put folks in prison

Thurmond was afforded a bathroom break and read from the encyclopedia. Booker held the floor the entire time and delivered a consistent, cogent speech for more than 24 hours.
