I gave an opening keynote at the FIDO Alliance’s “Authenticate” conference a few weeks ago! My goal was to explain, as clearly as I can, why passkeys are important and how we should use them to reduce the harm that passwords cause. [1/2]

On macOS, when a web browser uses passkeys in Apple Passwords, it works in two steps:
1. They have no idea what passkeys you have, but they can summon secure system to do passkey auth.
2. They can optionally prompt to know which websites you have passkeys on so they can offer deeper integrations.
Yes, I would love to give Open AI / ChatGPT access to my Passwords and Passkeys
ChatGPT’s Mac browser just got new features, like iCloud passkeys

It's not a warning. It's a threat.

"A nice economy you have there, would be a shame if something were to happen to it."

And all we have to do is keep pretending that the amount of money invested in AI is proportional to the value we're getting from it. Easy enough, just don't anger the mobsters
BBC: Pichai said while AI investment had been an “‘extraordinary moment’, there was some ‘irrationality’ ..

“Asked whether Google would be immune to the impact of the AI bubble bursting, Mr Pichai said .. ‘I think no company is going to be immune, including us.’”

“I’m a Grok guy” is the single most embarrassing phrase ever uttered in the course of human history.
JD Vance: "I'm a Grok guy. I think it's the best. It's also the least woke."

Yes, this is huge news. Passkeys continue to march forward.
Microsoft have finally released native support for password managers in Windows, starting with 1Password and Bitwarden. That's a massive step forward, and could really drive the adoption of passkeys within enterprise.

One could argue that it is outrageous that X invalidated a ton of user credentials just because they didn’t like them being labeled for “twitter.com”. I wrote up more about their decision over on Mastodon: hachyderm.io/@rmondello/1...

This week, I'm in Kobe for W3C #TPAC. I'm looking forward to a week of talking passkeys and WebAuthn, and more generally authentication technologies, and even more generally security and privacy on the web! If you're here and see me, say hi! If you wanna meet, let's!

Reposting this for the weekend crowd. tl;dr: I gave a talk about passkeys at a conference, I’m really proud of it, and I want as many people to watch it as possible. (Reposts and blogging welcome!)
