I think we can all agree that you can publish a game-changing bit of science (especially if you have more than a bit of help with the tricky crystal structures) but also be a massive fucking prick. We contain multitudes, yeah?

It’s telling how some male columnists and commentators have reacted to Riot Women as ‘man-hating’ when it’s simply depicting average everyday experiences women have with men all the time. If seeing the world through a woman’s eyes makes you hate men too the I guess you see our problem.

I think this is it. Despair is easy and you get to feel wise, and it doesn't really place any obligations on you or force you to speak out or do anything, really.
I do sometimes wonder if there is a certain kind of person that takes refuge in despair because it absolves them from having to do anything.
No, you do in fact have to help maintain the social norm against racism in the UK! That is your moral duty as a British citizen! Giving up on that is immoral!
