We’re not in it for attention—and definitely not for the money.

We do it because it matters.

Automobile dependence erodes public health in many ways: blunt force trauma (#1 cause for children and young adults), air pollution (CVD, asthma), noise pollution (QoL, dementia) but perhaps the most pernicious is that it has almost completely displaced walking. www.sciencedaily.com/releases/201...
Less than 25 percent of Americans walk for more than ten minutes continuously in a typical week
Many people in the U.S. do not walk, bike or engage in other forms of active transportation, missing an important opportunity to improve their cardiovascular health, concludes a new study.

Agreed. This is a good point. A lot of the actions taken have been needlessly cruel and exploitative, from a justice point of view.
Legal challenges to President Trump’s El Salvador deportations have focused on due process, writes @conor64.bsky.social. Less attention has been paid to another constitutional protection: the Eighth Amendment’s prohibition on “cruel and unusual punishment.”
Donald Trump’s Cruel and Unusual Innovations
Deporting illegal immigrants is lawful. Imprisoning them in El Salvador makes a mockery of the Eighth Amendment.

I think one of the reasons why the polemic between Zedillo and Sheinbaum is so intense, is that Zedillo is, all things considered, much more respected as a former president than Salinas, Fox, Calderón or Peña Nieto. He's a far more credible critic than the other former presidents.
