Same here! Quick and easy foods are a lifesaver during finals. Just trying to remind myself not to lean too hard on fried snacks when I’m stressed—fried foods are packed with calories and trans fats, which can mess with digestion and focus. Fuel smart, skip fried food.

Fried foods are full of calories and sometimes trans fats, which contribute to stomach issues, inflammation and a higher risk of having obesity and heart disease. 🍗🍟

During finals week, my go-to foods that keep me going, avocado toast, peanut butter banana smoothies, trail mix, and anything I can throw together in under 10 minutes—also running on a lot of coffee and late-night snacks & just trying to stay fueled and focused.

This Washington Post article breaks down the myth of natural food labels, showing why evidence not marketing should guide our food choices. It's a great companion to nutrition guides for families, helping parents make informed decisions beyond just what's trendy.

RFK Jr's ideas about food & health are often untethered from the evidence, but his spectacular wrongness is an object lesson.

Many of us are wrong in less spectacular ways, but for the same reason.

It's all about the natural.

Like Robert F. Kennedy Jr., we can’t resist the idea that natural means good, even when the evidence doesn’t agree.

Yes! Tom’s story really drives this home, he didn’t lose weight by starving himself, but by finding consistency and a routine that worked for him. Skipping meals and guilt only create a cycle. Fueling your body isn’t a weakness, it’s self-respect.
@beh353.bsky.social #BEH353
This is a great reminder because I know that so many people tend to skip meals, or they feel guilty for fueling their body with food. The thing is, our bodies need food to function! Skipping meals is not for sustainable for losing weight. Treat yourself, and stay healthy! @beh353.bsky.social #beh353
Food = fuel AND joy (+ culture, experience, love, etc.). You’re allowed to eat without guilt. No burpees required.

In healthcare, how we treat people goes beyond medicine. Words carry weight, especially when someone is already carrying so much. Tom’s story shows how judgment can harm more than help. Empathy should always come first

This week I learned from James Corden's response to Bill Maher that fat-shaming isn’t just unhelpful—it’s harmful. It doesn’t lead to weight loss, it leads to shame. Moving forward, I’ll focus on empathy over judgment and promote body positivity in all spaces I’m part of. @beh353.bsky.social #BEH353

Flexible meal planning can make healthy eating more affordable. By planning, buying in bulk, and choosing seasonal produce, individuals can reduce costs, and minimize food waste. This approach helps overcome the barrier of healthy food being perceived as expensive. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

One of the most relatable barriers to healthy eating for me is the relative cheapness of unhealthy foods compared to healthier options. When I go grocery shopping, I often find that processed and fast foods offer greater value in portion size and immediate satiety. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

jVitamin B12 (cobalamin) is essential for nerve function, and erythropoiesis. Found in animal-based foods, it's crucial for vegetarians, vegans, and those with absorption issues. Deficiency can cause fatigue and neurological issues, making supplementation important.

It’s interesting how plant-based meals like lentil soup provide fiber, vitamins, and even a good amount of protein—something a strictly meat-based diet lacks. It makes me wonder if cutting out plants really benefits overall health in the long run!

The keto diet is often praised for its fat-burning benefits, but I found it interesting that it may also help with muscle preservation during weight loss. However, some research suggests it might be less effective for muscle gain than higher-carb diets. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

This message needs to be promoted and brought to light, especially since I, too, fell for the myth of the “best” way to build muscle, never bothering to explore alternatives that suited my taste preferences.

Everyone wants to know what's the best. The best way to lose weight, the best food, the best diet...

But We don't all need to chase and promote one ultimate option.

What we need is options... choices. They don't need to compete or be ranked, they can just be tools we use when we need them.

One of the changes I am trying to make to my diet is to add healthier alternatives to things I regularly love. For example, I use high-protein Greek yogurt instead of mayonnaise. This doesn't change the taste of the marinate, but it helps me feel better after the meal.

A fun fact about red meat, that I recently learned from a restaurant is that most red meat has a high protein content, as it has high myoglobin content, a protein that stores more oxygen and energy production, hence why good red meat is costly. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353
