I’ve just announced I’ll be leading a National Emergency Briefing on 27 November . At a time when climate is in free fall on the political agenda , it’s vital our leaders realise what is at stake if we do not accelerate a just , green transition for all .

Great news. At
@fightingdirty.bsky.social we lost our court case on sewage sludge spreading, but now we're winning by other means.
It's crazy that it took so long, but shows that persistence pays. Please support FD if you can. Thanks.

This afternoon I'll be leading a debate on the call for public ownership of bus services.

It says a lot that those who want to keep public transport in their own hands, generating profit for themselves, have nothing to offer except childish name calling.

Bus boss tells MSP to 'get on his bike and leave transport to the adults'
Let’s be blunt. Patrick Harvie’s knowledge of transport appears to be restricted to whether or not he needs to fix a puncture on his bike.

Only 37% of Parisians owned a car in 2016.

Anne Hidalgo used that insight to pedestrianise Paris, plant trees, and shrink roads. Locals love it. Suburban drivers… not so much.

The city’s still transforming. And it’s working. 🌳 #UrbanPlanning

UK media is so wild. It is tough to properly convey how shockingly deceptive this article is. It's desperate I guess but a lot of people will still read this, and trust it bc it's coming from what looks to be a reputable media outlet.

Enough is enough. It’s time for a ban - starting yesterday.

Take action with us, @bluemarinef.bsky.social & Only One to save UK seas. Email the Environment Secretary, Steve Reed, telling him to BAN bottom trawling in marine protected areas. 🚫✊

World leaders meet for the UN Ocean Conference this week in Nice, France.

This 2024 photo shows a sperm whale struck dead off the coast of Nice by the exact maritime traffic they're debating. This is a common occurrence!

Not my favourite kind of meme - but it's on point!

The constant pandering to far-right voters is unbelievable. The lack of conviction and values.

In many ways Starmer's policies have been remarkably close to Trump's (immigration, social & welfare cuts, etc).

There's a strand of toxic optimism out there that really gets to me.

I don't think you can healthily generate optimism out of thin air. To me it springs out of action. Action gives us back a sense of control and from there a sense of optimism.

It's well possible that action stems from pessimism 😅
