Finally tried Nongshim Toomba noodles. Very different flavour profile to SamYang Carbonara. Very delicious. Can definitely taste the garlic!

As much as I don’t like single use kitchen appliances, the egg steamer I bought is glorious.

Set and forget until an unholy sound much like a terrible 70s alarm clock rings out across the kitchen.

Got the guts to finally open the mandolin slicer I bought a year ago and it’s so scary. I have never been this afraid of a kitchen appliance before.

Eleven years after posting about wanting some ceramic coconut-shaped mugs on Facebook, I finally found and bought some.

It all started when I saw this…

Right before the Xmas break, my WFH office chair gave up. The seat is now dangerously wobbly.

Over the Xmas break I ordered a new (very decent) chair.

I am now playing a game of chicken, hoping my current chair doesn’t completely die before the new one arrives 😬

I paid $7.50 for a single mangosteen because I’d never tried one.

Let me tell you it was possibly the best fruit I’ve ever tasted. I’m ruined.

Love a bit of NYE Rage action. Treaty was a banger opening!

Got my nbn connection upgraded to FTTP today. Haven’t even upgraded the plan speed yet and it’s already faster than the FTTC was. 🤯

Sorry to the teenagers I startled when I burst out of my front door and asked “what the fuck going on?!” very loudly after hearing a girl screaming and running and then screaming again right near my gate.

Tips. They were playing tips. But at least they’re safe.

Me watching a film.

1. Start watching.

2. Wonder what I’ve seen one of the actors in before.

3. Google actor.

4. Go to IMDb/their Wikipedia page.

5. Find out every single detail of their entire life.

6. Realise I’ve completely missed the plot of the film and now have no idea what’s going on.

The Telstra Xmas ad using Holly Jolly Christmas is really a choice for those of us who follow There I Ruined It.

I end up singing something completely different.

I’ve suddenly started being served content in another language in my “for you/recommended/explore” feeds and I can only assume it’s because of how iOS handles dual languages now.

No details, little scrutiny, and no guarantee it will work - so why is Labor rushing through a social-media age ban that most experts oppose?

#socialmediaban #socialmedia
If so many experts oppose a social-media age ban, why is the government intent on rushing it through?
Labor has been at pains to say people won’t need digital ID or to hand over their passport – but there’s nothing in legislation preventing it

I hear the committee on the social media ban received 15,000 submissions which is huge even without considering it was only open for a dayish

1) Yes, you as an adult will have to 'assure' your age on social media.
2) Probably by using your digital ID.
3) The infrastructure for which is only half built.
4) And the way the government decided to build it is structurally pretty insecure.
5) There are global standards, we just didn't use them.

Instead of rushing legislation through parliament without meaningful consultation or a senate inquiry, the government needs to prioritise privacy reform, and at least wait to see the outcome of the $6.5million age assurance trial.

While this is marketed as a ban to protect children, it is important to recognise the privacy and security impacts will be felt by all people who want to use social media platforms in Australia, including young people. To verify somebody’s age, age assurance measures must be tested on every user.

Word of this morning is ‘procaffeinate’: to put everything on hold until you’ve had sufficient amounts of coffee.

New coffee machine is great. Partner has not been using his profile and just makes coffee with the active profile… mine.

So I deleted them and named the single profile as “Bitch”

The coffee machine now displays “Bitch your coffee is ready” when done brewing.

Bets on how long until he notices? 😹

The horror of having to answer unknown number calls because you’re dealing with a whole lot of services at the moment… so you can’t just ignore them all.

I just unwittingly picked up a spam call. 😭
