A horrific accident early Saturday morning left a car in the side of an NWS office and the office relying on the NWS service backup system. Service backup is important in situations like this - but also is being increasingly used due to NWS staffing and infrastructure issues. tinyurl.com/4txuyhbz
Tragic vehicle accident takes an NWS office offline
Looking at how the NWS offices back each other up. Severe weather and flash flooding in the south central US next couple of days.

Did you see the commercial with the meteorologist, “closely monitoring the Polar Vortex”, while the weather outside is frightful (flurries). He must shelter in place, but assures us, his radio listeners he’ll be monitoring the Polar Vortex all night. But that’s not all. The plot thickens …

Absolute solidarity to all the women out there who have had a man at work lean forward, point a finger at you, and mutter the equivalent of “quiet piggy” while all of your colleagues just stand around and do nothing.

There’s a reason why that was so triggering to so many people.

Does anyone know what happens when teenagers leave the nest re: their constant germs? I get EVERY bug they individually get. I wonder, does some sort of super immunity kick in? Is there a reward for 20 years of constant assault on my immune system? Have you seen them try to cover a cough? 😒

As a seasoned emergency manager who's overseen some of FEMA's biggest response and recovery plans, I can assure you this is nonsense. Reducing the 75/25 cost share and assuming states not ending in -orida have the capacity to manage major public assistance projects is naive and dangerous policy.

The Nashville radar is down. But, the good people who serve you every day at the NWS finally received the 130lb palette with the part on it. Their two techs are now lugging that part to the top of the radar tower to try and get the radar operational before SVR arrives. All while not being paid.
