Rob Reiner was one of the key people behind the effort to go to court to overturn California's anti-marriage equality Proposition 8 when it passed in 2008.

Working with Chad Griffin, they founded the American Foundation for Equal Rights and got Ted Olson and David Boies to team up to fight Prop 8.

Princess Bride changed my brain chemistry as a kid and is one of the few works of art in film that I only grew to appreciate and respect more as I got older. RIP Rob Reiner

The cultural impact of Rob Reiner cannot be understated. Legend isn't big enough a word. It goes to 11. You can't handle the truth. As you wish. I'll have what she's having. I'm your number one fan. You guys wanna see a dead body? The very idea of a bucket list. The West Wing.

All from his movies.

Rob Reiner was an acclaimed actor & director but he was also a vocal critic of Trump

He warned the American public that they only had a year to save their democracy

That year is almost up

Honour his legacy by fighting fascism. Fight for democracy. Fight for what’s right. Fight against tyranny.

Rob Reiner was one of the perennials, a force in TV and then film and then politics and Los Angeles life for decades and decades. He was the quintessence of Bleeding Heart Liberal Hollywood in the best sense of every word.

May his memory be a blessing.

Rob Reiner gave us a lingua franca that connected us to fellow travelers for DECADES.

He made American culture classic, memorable, accessible, poignant and unpretentious in a way few have. Devastating.

I don’t have much to add beyond what everyone else has said, except that, living on the Lower East Side, walking by Katz’s every day, Rob Reiner literally made his work part of our neighborhood. He defined an already-legendary place in the minds of the world, and his joyful legacy will last.

I’m having a hard time comprehending the news about Rob Reiner. All I can articulate right now is how much I admired him, how much I enjoyed his work, and how thoroughly shocked I am hearing about what happened. My favorite superpower in any human is the art of storytelling. He was a master.
