If it's not regime change, and it's certainly not "law enforcement," let's just call it a nuclear-armed oil heist.

If you are a foreign president who commits crimes overseas, America will come get you, arrest you, and lock you up.

But if you are a US president who commits crimes here in the United States, America will give you immunity from prosecution, reelect you, and bribe you with billions of dollars.

David is right.
When a government magics up new legislation (Bill 14) to sidestep the courts and enable the separatists' (un)constitutional citizen initiative, there is only one conclusion.
Smith, the UCP & their fellow travellers are separatists.
Govern yourself accordingly.

The Conservatives are, of course, changing the rules in the middle of the game.
It reminds me of the David Frum quote, "If conservatives become convinced that they cannot win democratically, they will not abandon conservatism. They will reject democracy.”

As a political scientist, I think the effects on unity are some of the biggest problems with the agreement. It legitimates "Alberta" as an aggrieved party, distinct from other provinces, while treating BC and its peoples to be as issues to be managed, rather than partners in the federation.

There is at least one massive inconsistency in the MOU.
On the one hand it speaks of "private sector constructed & financed pipelines" & on the other "AB commits to:
act as proponent for advancing the development of a bitumen pipeline".
Which is it? AB taxpayers want to know

Sounds as if the UCP will soon pull the plug on its recall election, now that government MLAs are on the receiving end - Alberta Politics
It sure sounds as if Danielle Smith’s United Conservative Party will soon rip a page from the Book of Depression era Social Credit premier William Aberhart and repeal the province’s recall legislation...

Dear Albertans.
Today we face the prospect that Ms Smith will legislate teachers back to work 'cos it says we can't afford to settle.
Meanwhile the GoA is paying $$ (so far $237M - likely as much as $650M) to Aussie coal companies to settle claims created by the UCP's own incompetence

Got off the plane and walked into a drug store in Ottawa and got my COVID vaccine in under 5 minutes. No line up. No appointment. No cost.

Was even asked if I wanted Moderna or Pfizer.

It’s unconscionable that we can’t get this same level of service in Alberta.

Pushing for a cease fire so you can look good in a genocide you specifically enabled, at the same time as you’re assaulting your own democracy & waging war on your own cities, is never going to get you a prize for peace.
