Fentanyl. Drug Overdoses, including Fentanyl, are not even in the top 20 causes of death in the USA. Cancer, Diabetes, Covid, Heart Disease all in the top 10, and all have had their research funding cut. They aren't murdering just Venezuelans. However they are killing us much slower.

One of the wildest things about being a bassist is being asked to learn a pop song and then looking at the credits only to find out it was played by an absolutely virtuosic bassist and the part is ridiculously complicated.

And equally rewarding when you learn it properly.

If you live in New York or you know folks living in New York who have the ability to love and care for this sweet baby, please send them her info!! Her posts keep showing up on my feed and my heart breaks that she’s been waiting so long. Someone please give this sweet girl a loving forever home!
It's December. The goal is to find MELIA a home for Christmas. We can do this. Over 810 days waiting. Poor baby. A quiet adult only home, no dogs, cats are ok. 3.5 years old, around 50 lbs. Come on New York!

This is a timely reminder to be nice to retail employees, even if you think you are too important to do that.

In the 2000s, I worked at a bookstore, but by the time this story takes place, I was mostly in the cafe. If things got busy, they'd pull me out to work on the other side of the store...

Remember Thomas Jacob Sanford, the Iraq veteran who burned up a Mormon Church in September? Remember Nigel Edge, the Iraq veteran sniper who shot up a bar from his boat in Cape Fear, also in September?

Keep track of how differently we speak of them than Rahmanullah Lakanwal.

I think I’m reaching a low enough point motivation wise at work that I’m willing to admit the situation is unsustainable, doesn’t seem likely to improve (at least not without an excessive amount of output from me cause my supervisor is a kinda not great), and I think I’m ready to start looking again

The Republicans and Democrats who allowed this to happen are death panel supporters
A Maine woman retired early to be a caregiver for her terminally ill mother.

Now she’s facing cancer herself, and because ACA subsidies won’t be extended, she is losing her healthcare.

Her costs are going up for $49,000 a year.

This isn’t healthcare, it’s eugenics.

Medicare for all.

Pullman is really is most Victorian Dickens-ish Christmas-y feeling Chicago neighborhood when there’s a thick blanket of snowing covering all the buildings and houses, the one big plus of all the recent slush.

thinking about every time an interviewer has said "We like to see how you think!"

and every time i held back the reply "If that was remotely possible, my autistic ass would have had a much different time of things."

White men love complimenting my skin lol. Men I’m partnered with in some way, but sometimes it’s just men I come into contact with at work or out in public. The consistent report is that I’m very soft and have a glowy smooth complexion lol. It’s funniest to me when these come from a platonic source

Giving myself permission, time, and space to really get to know someone and get to know me, to fully let myself be courted, desired, and pursued over a period of time has been much more satisfying and healthy than just jumping into pre-prescribed roles and expectations prematurely and hoping it works
Sometimes I remember how I almost ended up in a relationship last year with this dude I’d only been dating a few weeks and then the universe saved me from myself and he moved states away..I have zero contact or no clue how he’s been doing and he nor me, thank goodness and good riddance 🙃

Exactly. The first person who chiseled a stone, other people around them were like oh this is great for banging stuff with. You didn't have to convince them to use fire because it was clear it was warm & if you threw some meat on it it was tasty. Good tech isn't a hard sell.
no one ever had to be forced to use *good* tech.
"All of this falls apart if humans don't adopt the tech. This is why you've seen Meta cram its lame chatbots into WhatsApp and Instagram. This is why Notepad and Paint now have useless Copilot buttons on Windows. This is why Google Gemini wants to "help you" read and reply to your emails."

Mickey 17 and Sinners are the two films released this year that gave me hope for cinema and humanity

Even though Mickey 17 was IP, it was the kind we should get more of

And Sinners was a reminder that we *need* filmmakers to be allowed to make original stories
