The Illinois Bivens Act is now law - people can sue under state law for ICE’s constitutional violations. Which state is next? When the feds fall down on their obligations to protect people’s rights, it is time for states to step up.

NEW: Judge dismisses the Trump Admin's challenge to NY's Protect Our Courts Act, a law prohibiting immigration arrests at NY's courthouses!

This is an important response to those who say states can't hold ICE officers accountable to the law.

I'll say something not pleasant about Nancy Pelosi & the cost of our ongoing gerontocracy.
Imagine if, on 1/6/2021, the Dem party was lead by people in their 40s or 50s or even early 60s. Impeachment would have started on 1/7, when there was real momentum on both sides of the aisle to remove Trump.

This is an excellent idea. The genius of the American system is that power is distributed widely, among different branches of the government--and among the states. Anyone who has some share of this power needs to be using it.
I am once again calling on state governors to mobilize their National Guards to escort congressmembers into ICE facilities so they can DO THEIR LAWFULLY ASSIGNED FEDERAL DUTIES
Federal agents are overtly abusing their power to try to intimidate advocates and elected officials. We need ICE out of Illinois immediately and justice for people like Ald. Jessie Fuentes who are defending their communities.

What we might refer to as a "Kavanaugh Stop"
WOW. The lead plaintiff is a Latino man who's been here legally for 24 years. He was grabbed off the street by plainclothes federal agents who didn't even ASK about his status.

He was detained overnight and only released once a supervisor realized he had been illegally arrested.
