I think pacifist Japanese creators such as Hayao Miyazaki, Mamoru Oshii, Reiji Matsumoto or Yoshiyuki Tomino creating detailed war narratives and machinery is not a contradiction. It is a natural, constructive and artistic method of reasoning about, and healing from, the deep trauma of war.
Sometimes it seems that we don't forgive contradictions in fiction authors, when actually being open with their hypocrisies makes them more interesting and honest. Think of the fascination of a pacifist like Hayao Miyazaki with war machines.

Kingpin fat jokes are funny because he can throw a car and turn you into a red mist before you can finish. Spidey’s the only one allowed to make them and get away with it and he still leaves with some broken ribs most of the time

I wish more people understood that the anti-trans and anti-vaccine movements are deeply intertwined, and by allowing bigotry and conspiracies to supersede medical and scientific knowledge on the subject of trans healthcare, mainstream press paved the way for anti-vaccine rhetoric to flourish.

they're both based on the idea that certain qualities that children can just naturally have are wrong, like the "normal" kid you were entitled to has been replaced with a faerie doppelganger, and that any amount of abuse is justified to try to "fix" your kid, who is no longer a person

If anything, more work hours make workers *less* productive and inefficient because - what with being human - they only have so much energy to expend before exhaustion kicks in.
