There are no red states, no blue states, only purple, from Idaho fuchsia to Vermont violet. And in every state there are children, non-citizens, and prisoners who can't vote. In every state where one candidate won, a bunch of people voted for the other candidate. And so forth.

Reminder: blue people live in red states.

E.g., Wyoming. Trump got 71.60% of the popular vote in Wyoming... and 1 in 4 people voted for Kamala!

“Blue” and “red” states are a fiction. States aren’t teams, and acting like they are makes life harder for people who already are marginalized.
For those that think the red states are getting what they deserve, we will all feel the consequences of these cancelled NIH grants. These researchers and institutions deserve better, regardless of red or blue state.
Red states miss out on the impact of the ruling overturning the cancelation of research grants. Only researchers in states whose attorneys general took part in the suit challenging the cutting of funding — ie mostly in blue states — see their grants restored. www.statnews.com/2025/07/03/n...

ICEblock, which allows users to alert others to the geographical location of ICE officers, is the top social networking app in the App Store right now after Karoline Leavitt condemned it from the podium yesterday.

Listening to it now, can confirm a very healthy helping of riffs. Two scoops, *minimum.*
This new album of mine is so fuckin chock full of riffs. Once you think you're done with a riff, BAM! new riff. You will enjoy this album if you like listening to 200 intricate little melodies, overlapping and in rapid succession. You'll also like it if you're a morbid bitch.

18 months ago, i wrote about how people were making AI generated Indigenous art. it's not a coincidence that people keep choosing to use these tools, trained on content without their maker's permission, to do this stuff

AI is producing ‘fake’ Indigenous art trained on real artists’ work without permission
One Indigenous artist said the process of using their art to train AI models that competes with them for work is a ‘very colonial mindset’.

Sometimes technology reshapes industries. Sometimes technology *replaces* industries—reshaping them so dramatically that people can no longer make a living.

People fear that AI will do the latter. AI proponents need to offer better than vague promises that artists will be fine if they “change”.
The industry completely changed business models to essentially tolerate piracy, by allowing downloading and eventually streaming, paying fractions of a penny per stream to artists

AI is the same, better for the consumer, but artists need to change business models

Insane. If the purpose of a government was to make a profit, there’d be no need to provide any services at all.

I bought beans and cornmeal and batteries to prepare for tariff apocalypse.

But I also got sidewalk chalk and flower seeds and remaindered jelly beans and a $5 bubble machine and an iridescent pinwheel and sparkle stickers and temporary tattoos in tie dye patterns.

I refuse misery.
