Former vice president Dick Cheney has died, at 84, with the blood of millions on his hands. His legacy will far outlive him as the man responsible for wars that have killed and displaced millions abroad; and who worked diligently to lay the groundwork for fascist authoritarianism in the U.S.
War Criminal Dick Cheney Dead at 84, With Blood of Millions on His Hands
Cheney’s legacy more than outlives him; he reshaped the very structures of war and authoritarianism at home and abroad.

it's time for journos to start asking Johnson meta questions

"Speaker, on 5 occasions last week you said 'I haven't seen it' when asked about news events w/big implications for public policy. Do you ever read the news, and do you agree it's problematic for the Speaker to be so woefully uninformed?"

So real.
Things i didn't go into education to be (presented in order of best rhetorical impact):

1) a shill for tech company marketing hype
2) a cop surveiling my students & trying to "catch" anyone who falls for the tech co. marketing hype permeating their entire sociocultural milieu

So you see my dilemma

ironically the education for its own sake, Enlightenment-coded, Great Books-ass liberal arts degree is one of the better employment bets you can make. learn how to read, write, think critically, develop curiosity so you can pick up new skills quickly, etc etc
"Among college graduates ages 22 to 27, computer science and computer engineering majors are facing some of the highest unemployment rates, 6.1% and 7.5% respectively ...

That is more than double the unemployment rate among recent biology and art history graduates, which is just 3%"

Today marks the third anniversary of the Supreme Court's decision to overturn Roe v. Wade.

What's happened since?

A record number of women have been prosecuted. Pregnancy loss is now considered extremely suspicious, even when it has nothing to do with abortion.
Criminalizing pregnancy: A record number of women were prosecuted the year after Dobbs
They were targeted for substance use, miscarriages, and stillbirths, largely driven by fetal personhood laws.

@mskellymhayes.bsky.social: "There was a time in 2020 when people were deeply invested in one another’s well-being... The same impulses that led to an explosion of mutual aid propelled people into the streets. We’ve drifted from that level of connection. But we’ll need to find our way back to it."
