“We are currently clean on OPSEC” accidentally sent to a journalist is an all time classic.

Who would’ve thought that the guy who hid boxes of top secret classified documents in his gaudy bathroom would hire a bunch of dipshits who discuss top secret classified war plans on a smartphone app after adding a journalist to the group chat??

On a daily basis, I marvel at how many people in putative positions of power are willing to help obliterate American democracy. The US has faced a series of very easy moral tests in the past decade and it’s staggering how often people in once-respected positions have failed.

The institutional Democratic Party is guided by an almost pathological level of conflict avoidance in almost every direction. “What can we do to make the least number of people mad?” is just a bankrupt way to operate.

Rep. Mike Levin: I had the opportunity to have a hearing with the head of the Army Corps of Engineers. They were the ones who let two billion gallons of water flow down to a dry lake bed, where much of it simply evaporated. It never made its way to LA…

I think some in the Senate have convinced themselves that the backlash to folding will be limited to “the left” and therefore ignorable.

Those people are deeply and profoundly misreading the moment and the stakes.

Virtually every swing district House Dem walked the plank to vote NO for a reason.

Moving a detainee around to evade judicial review is classic authoritarian behavior.
The government claims Mahmoud Khalil was already in NJ on his way to Louisiana by the time his habeas petition was filed—an argument that the NY federal court lacks jurisdiction.

But Khalil's lawyer checked the ICE locator when she filed and even 4 hrs after, and he was listed as still being in NY.

So the Trump administration's position on Mahmoud Khalil is specifically that he did *not* violate any laws?

DOGE cut off payments for the electricity, cell phone, and internet service of U.S. government employees who work in a high-risk area in Central America.

Meanwhile, DOGE apparently plans to spend $25,000 to install a washer and dryer for their own personal use in a federal office building in DC.
