Very weird feeling waiting for the president to announce an illegal war based on total bullshit that they made up right in front of our faces on TV, almost like I've lived through this moment before

Mark Carney... selling out Canada to private interests in the finest tradition of Conservative PMs like Harper and Mulroney.

Fuck... I'd missed this one.
I knew Carney would be bad... but he keeps managing to surpass my worst expectations.
Another poison pill buried in Mark Carney’s budget: a repeal of a reduced postage rates for books and shipments between libraries.

Libraries across the country are sounding the alarm for what it would mean for the viability of another essential public institution.
Libraries say budget proposal to end shipping program would be 'catastrophic | CBC News
Libraries across Canada say a proposed change in the federal budget bill would end their ability to ship books at reduced rates, threatening interlibrary loan programs and possibly forcing the closure...

It’s funny to me that all these Ukraine supporters ignore that Ukraine is in the middle of a massive scandal of corruption with western money. It’s so bad that Zelenskyy could be ousted.
You’d think there would be an uproar but no. If it were an African country the reaction would be the opposite
If you have to ask that question you don't spend a lot of time thinking about history. The mess in Ukraine has been going on for more than a decade. It will not end there. The war is coming whether we want it or not because Putin does want it. We ignore that at our peril.

The only reason Canadian financial institutions were not falling over like their American counterparts in 2007-08 was because our financial regs prevented them from doing subprime mortgages.
This article argues that Canadian banking regulations are too tight because Canadian banks are safe, and since we haven't had a bank collapse in 40 years, we should just go ahead and loosen regulations.

GEE, I WONDER WHY WE HAVEN'T HAD A BANK COLLAPSE IN 40 YEARS!

We need a new updated version of "Escape from New York", entitled "Escape TO New York". A merc has to infiltrate the fascist hellscape of middle America to save some immigrants and get them safely back to New York, the fortified last bastion of safety in the country.
Know your rights. Protect your neighbors.

New York is — and always will be — a city for all immigrants.
