On the left, your team, the tug-of-war is seen as literal life or death, but only by half the team.

Where's that late-90s video of Bezos (when he still had hair lol) raving about the culture at Amazon being INTENSE and how if it were between two desirable traits, they would always choose to be INTENSE? B/c that's what this is giving: INTENSE, Tantrum Edition.

Bold of you to assume that your victory = our victory.
Especially now.

The sooner we get past internal recriminations and back to fighting united, the better off we all are — the likelier our victory next November.

Senate Democrats are using "internal recriminations," "circular firing squad," "leftist infighting," and other dogwhistles on you because they've worked SO well for SO long.
(Note that if you've ever bitched about those things, you have some reflecting to do.)
Was infighting? Or just... fighting?

Controlled opposition is an effective way to neutralize actual opposition.
why did they do this when they just won all the seats or whatever and have a bunch of leverage? I DON'T UNDERSTAND.

It’s wild to suggest this is a circular firing squad or something when it’s millions of citizen Democrats who hate it versus 47 elected Democrats who conspired to surrender for nothing.
We’re not fighting “each other,” we’re fighting you. There’s only a few dozen of you, but you hold all the power.

But there are real dangers out there that must be fought; and energy spent fighting each other is energy lost to that bigger fight.

This isn't "internal recriminations." It's voters expressing overwhelming opposition to what the people they elected to represent them are doing, and anyone--either in journalism or politics--who characterizes it as infighting is either not seeing and hearing what's right in front of them or lying.

I know I'm not the brightest, but why has it taken until Mamdani for a politician to say, "People are homeless because the rent is too damn high?"
Looking at [unnamed politician]'s platform, & it promises to increase shelter space to fix homelessness. Been in that city. Guess what? Rent's too high!

An example of this would be S 2296, the Senate's 2026 Defense Department spending bill. The bill would institute the first federal ban on trans women in sports, federally define sex in a way that erases the existence of trans people, & bans CRT/DEI in the department.
26 Dems voted yea for it.

The thing to watch out for here is that appropriations and spending bills have been the most surefire way to get fascist laws passed with bipartisan support. The general idea is that spending for certain things is too important, so part of the compromise has to be other people's rights.
