DFAT has now confirmed Australians and others have been abused by Israeli authorities after their abduction from the flotilla.

Assaulted and injured. Deprived of sleep and medication. Still illegally detained.

The PM and Foreign Minister must urgently demand their safe release.

This is so insane. Public education needs a massive boost, not cuts. Almost all non-gov schools are religiously affiliated in some way- why are we outsourcing education to religious orgs? Education is compulsory- we should have pride in and strengthen our secular public schools, not undermine them.

The Australian National University has been crying poor to justify cutting staff, while hiding millions in profit.

"They'll tell you the $170 million they got in investment returns, $16 million in donations, and $40 million in other expenditure shouldn't count."

Today @MurrayWatt has given Woodside a $200bn gift

The North West Shelf extension will get $200bn+ of GAS FOR FREE. No royalties!

But what about PRRT? Lol No. Treasury in 2023 noted the NWS will never pay it

Terrible for the climate, fatal for Murujuga, & braindead economics

How absurd are complaints against the super changes?

Consider if someone's super goes up from $3m to $3,250,000.
So they earned $250,000 in a year.

Oh no! Their balance is over $3m. They now have a tax liability.
How much? $2,884.
That is how much income tax someone pays if they earn... $36,300.

Enjoyed Guy Claxton's lecture at Melb Uni yesterday. There’s no such thing as the Science of Learning; just many sciences, many lenses. No single method, no universal best practice. Teaching is more than delivery; it’s an epistemic apprenticeship. You catch ways of thinking from those you’re with.

I am concerned about the rewriting of the narrative about Peter Dutton and the Coalition more broadly. Yes, he gave a pleasant speech last night. Let’s not forget the racist, misogynistic, divisive policies they promote, the fear and hate they stoke. One speech doesn’t make up for that.

This speaks further to imitating Trump’s anti-diversity policies masquerading as equality. Speaks to fear and desire to divide. Not what we should look for in a leader. Also, ewww. www.theguardian.com/australia-ne...

Interesting piece by Patricia on the impact of gender on this election.
And what’s changed since the last election – essentially more men thinking gender equality has gone “too far”. 😐 I was struck on the campaign by the high-vis vibes. #auspol #australiavotes www.abc.net.au/news/2025-04...
Men and women are more divided — and it could sway the election
New data suggests that gender and politics are getting more polarised and the views of women and men more divided. It is consequential for how we understand this election.
