I’ve dreamt about a swift brick win & front pages of newspapers but this is a nightmare. It’s not a win. This is a meaningless policy with no legal requirement, no enforcement & no transparency inviting housebuilders who’ve bragged about blocking swift bricks to do it themselves

This is what many of us have been saying. Part 3 of the Planning & Infrastructure Bill is based on a myth: that we don't have enough homes because wildlife and green spaces are protected. It will solve nothing, and inflict terrible harm on our remaining ecosystems

In 2023, the Labour party supported mandating swift bricks, whipping FOR the swifts brick amendment. 2 years later, the same Ministers in charge of Housing put a 3 line whip (the most extreme block) AGAINST swift bricks. Listen to the strength of support in this powerful speech.

It's not asylum seekers who jack up rents, undermine the NHS, hold down wages and keep people insecure.
It's capital.
The role of the far right is to shift the blame for decades of economic attacks by the rich and powerful onto powerless people who have only just arrived here.

The threat to our society is not from asylum seekers in small boats. It’s from politicians and media cynically whipping up fear and prejudice, labelling them all as criminals, inciting hatred against people for where and what they’ve fled from.
It must stop. For all our sakes. It’s deeply sinister.

🚫🌼 Most UK councils still spray pesticides in parks, playgrounds and pavements, harming bumblebees and other wildlife.

Nature friendly farming approaches can reduce need for pesticides, improve soil health, & create buffer strips to reduce the amount of pesticide entering waterways. Robust, reliable, easy to access funding for such measures is vital to river health.

The warning couldn’t be clearer. ⚠️

Slashing the nature-friendly farming budget would be catastrophic for the nature and climate crisis, and for our long-term food security.

What's more, it would leave the UK Government’s credibility on climate and nature in tatters.

Labour promised to restore nature. ❌

Instead, their Planning Bill contains a licence to destroy it.

We offered solutions. We’re done waiting.

Part 3 of the Bill would gut the laws protecting our most precious habitats & species.

Without significant change, it must be scrapped.
