Thanks to his new Tesla pay package, Elon Musk could stand to make $3 billion more per year than all 1.4 million elementary school teachers in the U.S. combined. Still wondering if inequality is out of control?

It also puts dollars back into the economy. People who don't use food stamps but work at places that take them could see their hours cut.
Whenever people complain about the number of folks relying on food stamps, it is worth reminding them that SNAP is, by too large of a degree, a subsidy for corporations that refuse to pay a living wage and their political allies who reject public policy prescriptions to reduce income inequality.

The second richest man on earth is about to be a major owner of TikTok.

The third richest man owns Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp.

The fourth richest man owns The Washington Post.

This is one of the most important posts of the day.
Trump’s allies now control X, Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, & TikTok.

They own Fox News, CBS, WaPo, WSJ & NY Post.

They own Sinclair Broadcasting which has 200 tv stations and local news in 100 markets.

“Freedom of speech” is now what Trump and his billionaire pals say it is.

I really cannot express enough how dangerous it is to be around pregnant people when you are sick. Maybe nothing goes wrong but maybe months later there is something wrong and it is unclear whether the illness you spread to them is to blame. You might not even remember, but they will.

I have written and deleted a lot of posts but I keep thinking about how the brutal assassination of Minnesota State senator Melissa Hortman, her husband Mark, and their beloved dog Gilbert in June did not prompt this same level of calls for empathy, sympathy, and flags at half-mast.

How does lava sound when it comes to the surface of the Earth? Listen to a lava flow oozing out of its effusive vent high on the southwestern side of #Etna, 28 August 2025. That day no visits by tourists were allowed on the site, which permitted this (relatively) clean recording

It's the guns. Let's have fewer guns. Let's not have as powerful guns. Let's stop pretending like this is just a normal fact of life. I don't want to teach my kids about what to do to try to survive situations like this, as though it wouldn't most likely be down to luck.
At least two children were killed and 17 other people were injured in a shooting Wednesday morning during the first week of classes at a Minneapolis Catholic school, authorities and a hospital said. https://to.pbs.org/47NsjLt
WATCH: Minneapolis officials offer latest details on deadly Catholic school shooting
The police chief said dozens of children were inside the mass at the time of the shooting. Two children, ages 8 and 10, were killed where they sat in the pews, he added.

Existing is not a crime. Surviving is not a crime. Being unhoused is a failure of our society, it is not a personal failing and not a crime.

If you think prohibiting people on SNAP from purchasing “junk food” is good, you’re clearly more interested in punishing poor & disabled people than you are in healthy living.

The rich can eat as much junk as they want, but the poor must cook for themselves or go hungry?

The #1 way to explain America working properly is by saying “comedians can make fun of he President on TV.” A good way to explain fascism is “the President forces companies to fire those comedians as a condition of allowing them to conduct business.”
