*New mission. Let's unite the working class to demand they stop making profit off our health care.
After that we can stop them from making billions off OUR WORK while they throw pennies at us.
REAL AMERICANS FOR AMERICANS!

Oligarchy (noun): A government of and by a few at the top, who exercise power for their own benefit. Their power and wealth increase as they make laws that favor themselves, manipulate financial markets, and create monopolies that put more wealth into their pockets.

If this year taught us anything, it's that:

1) Workers keep America going, not billionaires.
2) Corporate profits don't trickle down to workers.
3) Poverty is a policy choice.
4) Health care is a human right.
5) Strikes work.

I hope we act on these lessons in the new year.

The ever informative and wonderful Miranda Yaver (give her a follow, you won't regret it) has helped expose more greed and drifting by for profit healthcare insurers.
Not surprising. Proton beam radiation therapy is routinely denied by private ins as experimental/investigational (bc it’s more expensive), despite its development in 1988 and coverage by Medicare & Medicaid. And while UHC has fought its coverage, a UHC affiliate pledged $15m to build a PBRT clinic!
Health insurers are increasingly interfering in care, an NBC News investigation has found.

Doctors say the stakes are highest in cancer care, when delays can be the difference between life and death.

This is what needs to change in the USA.
America's richest 10% now hold 60% of the nation's wealth.

The bottom half of America? It holds just 6%.

Wealth inequality is eating this country alive.

This applies well to greedy corporate profit off of denying healthcare.
Being mad about corporate greed doesn’t mean you’re an extremist terrorist.

It means you have a brain.

Now tell me again how the "red" states are taken advantage of by the "blue" states...
Those that vote against the ACA are the ones that benefit the most.
People, ALL PEOPLE, deserve healthcare!
Well would you look at that.

But they don't want us to talk about healthcare for profit being a killing business...

Voters chose Trump, because he promised to lower costs for working people, but he’s made it clear he’ll keep putting the needs of billionaires like Elon Musk ahead of all of us.

They have plans to cut our health care coverage and give their wealthy friends a tax break.

Are you ready to fight?

Imagine healthcare that's not tied to employment. You can leave a toxic job and not lose coverage, pay for bridge insurance, worry about pre-existing conditions being covered.
That's why we can't have it. They need us desperate and broke. Then we will swallow what they feed us. Resist.

@mirandayaver.bsky.social is great to follow for healthcare information. 1
I enjoyed talking with @melodyschreiber.com for this piece in @theguardian.com on the recent events regarding UnitedHealth and the insurance barriers on which I write. I was even able to sneak in some discussion of ERISA's major and overlooked role in health -- the subject of my next book!
“When you have your life turned upside down because you can’t get a test for something that is really bothersome, or you can’t get a medication that would actually solve your issues, it creates a lot of frustration and anger and loss of trust,” @mirandayaver.bsky.social said.
