So much passion across every art form, too little time.

Not a SEGA/RGG Studios shill 🗿 seriously not after the consistently bad action combat design choices

Go play Metal Gear & Deus Ex! Watch Columbo, Mad Men, Better Call Saul and many other prestige TV

Ten is simply not enough.

1. Final Fantasy VI
2. Sonic 3 & Knuckles
3. Super Metroid
4. Resident Evil 4
5. The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask
6. Kingdom Hearts 2
7. Castlevania: Symphony of the Night
8. Mega Man X
9. Metal Gear Solid
10. Super Mario Galaxy

But above them all FFXIV.

The writers obviously long for their old Newgrounds days, because that's where their senses of humor developed.

Unfortunately, while they manage to avoid more obviously offensive shit, there as still several areas they just haven't grown past.

Heads up for folx playing Arc Raiders: Embark has openly stated (in an interview with GamesRadar+), that the game uses the same AI voice tech as The Finals, and the CEO has talked about using AI to generate 3D models from YouTube rips.

If you're anti-AI you should not be playing Arc Raiders!
Not to be the fun police but I do hope people know that Arc Raiders does use generative AI for voice acting, and by supporting the game you're letting higher-ups know that this is an okay practice.

They try to downplay this on the Steam store page by describing the AI usage as vaguely as possible.

"This use of GenAI is fine because VAs signed contracts to relinquish their rights".

Well yeah, have you seen what happens to those who don't want to sign off on this? Can you really call that consent when the alternative is losing (or never getting) a job?

If your game has voice acting, then working with the voice actors is half of your writing process. It's not complete until you've heard it interpreted and reimagined by a voice actor. And they always reimagine it in ways that elevate the writing, in ways you never would have imagined yourself.

Ask literally any voice actor if they get royalties from the video games they worked on.

They will tell you no. They might even laugh.

Now imagine any developer actively trying to use AI VO to save money wanting to offer something like that.
Also, re: "they get royalties", how much money is that? Does it make up for the lack of continued work?

Paying next to nothing is still "getting paid royalties" but is functionally nothing.

Everyone arguing that the broth is not crucial in ramen is insane and likely hasn't had ramen outside of Cup Noodle or Top Ramen. The broth is incredibly important! It's one of the main signifiers of what TYPE of ramen it is.

Yes, ramen counts, but you'll need to debate tonkotsu, shoyu, and miso.

This is insanity. People are being pushed to the brink, here. The Democrats had their chance to actually stand up to the Republicans, force them to take responsibility for their actions, and they caved.

If things don't get better, soon? I wouldnt be surprised to see full blown riots.

While delaying gives devs more time, this is starting to air on the side of being delayed so many times it ultimately won't sell enough to recoup the cost of those delays, and the dev will go through massive layoffs/shutdown anyway. Especially since it's not some glitzy mainstream action game.
