As someone who has researched authoritarian movements, this is 100% true.
There is a mythology of the evil dictator who sees 8 moves ahead (Hunger Games, etc).
Dictators are fallible & their demand for loyalty creates both resentment and incompetence.
But it will require work.

I am convinced that the normalization of fascism in people’s minds is already happening and an enormous danger.
Some people in denial, but I think more people will simply just accept it as how things are. At some point, we just get used to the temperature in the pool.
