When Democrats were capitulating to Reagan and giving birth to neoliberalism through the Democratic Leadership Council , Rev. Jackson held the line for poor folks. Having been dirt poor and religious, my mom loved him and voted for him in the ‘88 primary. May his memory be a blessing.
I wish some of the politicians sharing tributes to Jesse Jackson would display even half of his commitment to civil rights. It's hard to watch, honestly.

Shit on Stancil as much as you want but he is objectively right about this. Build the coalition to take back power with as many progressives as we can, but accept some neolibs are going to be needed in moderate areas, and then fight amongst ourselves in the legislative process.
I’m not saying you shouldn’t criticize Dems - of course not - but acting like “a mediocre Dem versus an actual fascist” is a tough choice is extremely unhelpful for people trying to build a broad united front against fascism.

That’s going to require electing someone and a Senate willing to pack the Supreme Court. I don’t think any of the known potential Democratic candidates have the chutzpah to make it a core issue of their campaign. Newsom? Buttigieg? Harris? None of them are an FDR. We need an FDR.
