Improvements in medical science have in many cases meant an increase in the number of disabled people, because it means people can survive and live with conditions that would have killed them otherwise.

I think that is a good thing.

But those who seek to 'improve' humanity are disgusted.
When they scaremonger about 'chronic disease' they mean any condition that requires lifelong treatment including medication.

It's all based in some super fucked up puritan attitudes.

They starve us first… then shoot us hunger.
Gaza is dying from every direction, besieged, bombed, and broken.
This is not war. This is annihilation.

personally I think it's far more objectionable to refer to a pregnant 13-year-old as a 'woman' than to refer to a cis woman as a 'person', but what do I know
I think a lot of the weird objection to 'pregnant people' is because people somehow imagine it has something to do with trans women. It, in fact, does not! Pregnant people includes women, trans men, non-binary people, and also teenagers who are pregnant but are not actually over 18.

'Pregnant women' leaves out pregnant girls. The anti-trans extremists' obsession is exactly that. They see every phrase, every issue as related. Phrases like 'Pregnant people' never noticed in 25 years of me updating Australia's bestselling pregnancy book, Up the Duff, until anti-trans nonsense.
"pregnant person" as terminology emerged WAY before you ever heard about it, transphobes. It was mainly used when a lesbian couple is having a baby. That way "women" or "mother" isn't a specific enough term. Also, not all women are pregnant, Martine, you smug snide. Some NEVER are.

The idea that pro-trans movements led to anti-trans sentiment is egregiously out of touch with reality. Increased LGBTQ representation led to historic shifts in public opinion toward the community. The aggressively bigoted and violent campaigns that lied about trans people are clearly responsible

In Gaza, the war is not just shelling, rockets and cannons.
There is another war, silent, no less brutal: a war of hunger and cost.

This is not a passing crisis, it is another battle fought in the shadows, where monopoly destroys what missiles could not.

Entirely devoid of facts/evidence.

There is just no plausible argument - either economic or political - that the main threat to the sustainability of the UK's welfare state is immigration or immigrants.

Thanks for the reminder @janemunday.bsky.social. Every summer, I repost this article DROWNING DOES NOT LOOK LIKE DROWNING. To date, I know of FOUR kids who were saved after someone who'd clicked on the link learnt how to spot actual drowning. Take time to read and pass on.

It's not really the main issue with the Kneecap charge but his name is not Liam O'Hanna, it's Liam Óg Ó hAnnaidh. You don't rename Rishi Sunak as Rishi Sunwell, you can't just anglicise things because they're Irish.

The reality of “democracy” in capitalism

SAPs forced governments to cut public spending and divert resources to debt service. They also privatized public assets and abolished protective tariffs, subsidies and regulations, rolling back the progressive reforms of the post-colonial era.
