These real life horse women endure exhausting training for horse women racing that requires them to run in sissy dresses and heels. And then after the race they have to perform a little idol concert. And then they are euthanized

All my recent books went from hardcover to trade paperback and almost all of my backlist in mass market has now migrated to trade. The role of mass market paperbacks is now handled almost entirely by ebooks. I'm okay with this but it is the end of an era.

American sports thinks that the audience has to be constantly stimulated and assaulted from all senses. It’s really ridiculous going to sporting events and realizing that there’s not one moment where you’re not being overwhelmed by something.
Think my oldest person belief is "you don't always need to blast music in between the action at a sporting event"

I rewatched "Revue Starlight the Movie" recently which is what sent me on this thought again. It's my own artistic bible of going over the top. U should watch it. Whether you liked or hated the anime, you should watch the movie.

Outlined the final bit of connecting tissue - the outline itself is over 750 words. What the absolute fuck. Can't wait to see how many words this segment (and chapter) end up being.
Good news is that there's only one more scene needed to connect it with the back half, and I'm done writing! Bad news is that it's going to take a decent amount of editing to whip this into shape. Writing a 10k action scene out of order and almost entirely through word sprints isn't ideal

still working on the final chapter ;-.- It's a long one, likely going to be 1.5x the length of the second longest, which itself needs a few hundred more words. if the final chapter gets to ~10k, which seems somewhat likely, it'll be over 10% of the book. (300 more and it'll be @ 90k. christ)
