Today’s achievement, if it can be called that. Copied a thrifted McCall’s pattern to try out.

Sorry I've been quiet on here for a bit. Work has been... miserable. Trying to get back into sewing for sanity... but yesterday I almost lost my mind trying to topstitch a jersey t-shirt. Not sure why I'm having so much trouble with knits on the sewing machine(serger works great tho).

A slightly incorrect deer.

Such happy little hexagons!
Some more English paper piecing since I'm spending some more time on the couch! The left is my first set, the right is my second. Thread basting the hexagons first helped but these plastic templates are tough to sew together. 😭

It seems a bit odd: when something is supposedly dying or irrelevant, journalists can't stop writing about it. Consider the curious case of Bluesky, which, according to various pundits, is a failed "liberal echo chamber" that nobody uses anymore.

So in the past 3 weeks I've made a pair of pajama shorts, a button down shirt, and a dog shirt. I really want to post pictures of the finished garments but don't want myself in the photos.... still trying to figure out how to do that.

Ended up cutting a muslin for a shirt again. But been busy today so not sure I'm going to do any more sewing tonight. Did just get some brownies in the oven though so that should be a tasty regret.

Got the red owl finished! pics show each owl with the machine they were sewn on. Really fun and chill way to make a quilt block but definitely a lot of wasted fabric. Fortunately all my FPP fabric is thrifted!

Next up adding sashing and making quilt block rows. Might start that tomorrow...

Finally got the 301 working... I spent most of the morning diagnosing it.. and it was mostly that i had threaded the needle left-to-right which is incorrect on this machine.. first time I've ever seen that.

Did get some actual sewing done today..

Wanted to FPP today but instead struggling with my Singer 301. Seems to want to eat the top thread's tail instead of getting thread from the spool... driving me a little nuts.

Finishing up errands(avoided buying a sewing machine… good me), however we are upgrading our phones so not getting out of the morning financially unscathed. Looking forward to an afternoon of FPP.

Had a great time at SewExpo today. Amazing sashiko class, really want to find a reason to put patches on things now! Also got a great tailor's thimble that I've been wanting. Didn't pick up a serger... not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing yet.. depends on...

Not really feeling good about how today went and I kinda expect it to get worse before it gets better… I hope it gets better… sigh

Fun afternoon with my spouse working on some cute owl blocks. Got about 1/3 of the way with one block but was good practice and have all the colors picked out for one more block after. FPP is so relaxing because I can really just zone out and repeat the steps over and over until the block si done.

screwed up a shirt i was trying to make... then ripped holes in the fabric trying to rip it. Don't have enough fabric to make a new panel so thing it's toast. Might try to hold on to it in case I think of a save. Fortunately it's goodwill fabric.

Ok. Got some parts for my 500As. Never taken the motor apart before. Hope it all goes back together.

A fragment of the last time we had a king. Tore down in 1776 and mostly melted into musket balls.

Managed to get the pieces cut for a shirt. Now to get the courage to build a placket. Maybe tonight but most likely towards the end of the week.

Did a little sewing today on my treadle. The block was done earlier but making a pincushion was today. Came out a little wonky(especially hand sewing the close, I am terrible at that bit.

Lucked into an Accuquilt Go! with a strip die and cutting mat at goodwill! Never would have guessed I'd be able to get one there... tried it out a bit and it'll take a little getting used to but I could cut SO MANY STRIPS now!

Since I'm not getting anything done... maybe I can do some planning to distract myself... anybody have any links to info about hand sewing kits? Like how to make one or tips and tricks? I dunno.. figuring someone has to have figured out how to keep a lot of pointy things on hand without chaos.
